I am moving to Texas soon and am wondering about the CHL. I have a non-resident Florida and Arizona permit. Does Texas require residents to obtain a Texas CHL or can you carry with a non-resident permit?

You are good to go as long as those two permits are valid. As far as I know, both are fine as non resident permits here in TX.  All state reciprocity is listed on the Texas DPS website.

But once you settle in, get the TX one. You need to know TX law.  Its only 4 hours now, and you'll get loads of info you need.

Does not.  Only in state carry licenses waive the NICS

As TXI said.  The idea is that, in-state CHL would be revoked, or suspended in the event of a domestic assault event, or something that a non-resident permit in another state wouldn't be aware of.

It's why I maintain a LTC.  My employment doesn't matter to the state.  So, with the LTC, I'm now 'exempt' from NICS.
