As the title says I'll be visiting Dallas/Arlington shortly after the New Year for a Cowboys game. Are there any places in general I should stay away from? Also are there any places I "have to try" for dining out? It will be me and my future father in law.
Thanks. Bill |

In fact I'm filing the paperwork for at least 2 SBR's soon. |

I live in Arlington, but can't think of anything that I'd recommend. How long will you be in town?
BBQ is Hard 8 in north Dallas, in Arlington for chain BBQ Rudy's isn't aweful. You may like Redneck Heaven. It's the trailer trash version of Hooters. No must see gun stores that I can think of. The Keg has pretty good steaks. Don't plan on parking within a mile of the stadium. My brother lives so close we listen to the concerts held there from his front yard. I don't go over and he doesn't leave the house on game days. Traffic, while well managed, completely sucks. |

If yall are both into guns I always stop into Ray's guns and Jackson Armory when I visit Dallas if I have time, oh and the Beretta Store.
If you want a good dinner look for Perry's Steakhouse, they are actually from Clear Lake/Houston but have great food, get the pork chop!! You may have to be a "member" at some of the Dallas restaurants to drink, unless they finally changed that liquor law. If yall are into cowboy boots stop by ML Leddy's in Fort Worth for a drool!!! Avoid the Cotton Bowl area unless that has changed. Have a great trip! |

Bring me an Italian Hoagie with oil and hot peppers and THEN I will tell you where the good eats are. I'd love to bring you one as they are awesome; however, I'm sure TSA would confiscate it and cause me more trouble than it's worth. But if you ever make it out this way I'll buy you one. |

For Tex-Mex food in Fort Worth - Joe T Garcia's (bring cash, no credit cards accepted but there are ATMs on site)
Tex-Mex food in Dallas - Banditos Awesome local Tex-Mex chain in DFW - Mi Cocina BBQ in Dallas - Pecan Lodge or Lockharts BBQ in Ft. Worth - Billy's Oak Acres or Angelo's (Angelo's is cash only as well) For an awesome gun range you have to drive; I like to shoot out at Tac Pro in Stephenville Tx, ~1 hr west of fort worth. Also recommend ETTS is Waxahachie. There are plenty of gun ranges and shops in DFW but none that cater to "real shooters". I can't think of a match going on that weekend otherwise I'd invite you. |

Nah, I usually pick up 3 or 4 when I visit my Dad. Just run them through with your carry on and stuff them in the overhead. Make the whole plane smell like heaven. My family here in Texas fights over them when I walk in. I you have time to get over to the Stockyards in Ft Worth check out White Elephant Saloon. Good food, good times. |

I live about 2 miles down Collins St from the stadium. FWIW, parking costs are outrageous (like $75-ish near the stadium, but they get better further away from the stadium if you are driving here). |
