I'm looking into purchasing a Liberty safe: Lincoln or Presidential model. So far it seems like it has everything I need/want. But for price just wanted to get y'all's thoughts. Do you have one? Do you like it? Reccomend something I should look at? I want one at least 72" tall and hold about 50guns. I don't quite have that many but dammit I'm trying

Just about any safe you find at a sporting goods retailer is a piece of junk. Do your research before buying a safe. The absolute minimum safe thickness is 10 gauge. Buy as heavy duty of a safe as you can afford, balancing cost and strength. I would have loved to get a Fort Knox safe myself, but I don't have $7000 so I got a $2500 Winchester Silverado. Just don't get the crappy 11-14 gauge safes that retailers offer.
Here is a good resource to start - http://www.6mmbr.com/gunsafes.html Also check safe cracking videos on YouTube. |

I own a pawn shop and had a high line safe sales guy send me a video to prove how easy budget safes are to crack. The video started with two guys dumping a safe on its back in a large open area, and go to work on it with LONG prybars. It took them three minutes or so to get it open. They had to use 100% of body weight on those long prybars.
I was shopping for my house, and the safe is bolted down in a smallish closet. That video sold me on a budget safe. My jewelry and guns at the store are in expensive safes. It's a target, and in an area where someone could work on it for 20-30 minutes before LE arrives. If you guys live out in the country, ymmv. In a metro area or any average suburb, I feel fine with what I have. |
| Liberty, steardy safe, are good ones. There really not safes though to be technical. They call them residential security cabinets. When you do the reaserch you'll see what they're talking about. But all that aside the import thing with any of them is to bolt it down so they cant push it over and try and protect the sides. Lots of photo's of safes thats been broke into with an axe from the sides. Thin sheet metal like on cannon safes are really easy to get into like that. But if its better than a stackon or nothing. Then there is the fire rateing. Point is there is a ton of info and you really need to read it to make a good choice of whats gonna work for you. Then you can decide on the size. Best and most common advice is get the biggest you can because you'll start putting photos, gun, money, titles, and so on. Pretty soon your out of room. Good luck |

Liberty from what I read here and there has the best warranty.against break ins, storm damage fire damage etc...
I have a small Liberty in my shop and a larger Winchester (Granite Safes) in the house.. both are bolted to the floor, the house safe is in a closet where it's a biotch to change your mind in let alone get an angle to pop a safe by any means other than taking down a wall or two or tannerite. ' |

My dial can be a pain in the ass especially if I haven't gotten in that particular safe for a while. |
| I have a cannon safe. 6 months after I purchased it they introduced a new lock. Key pad with a manual dial back up. Naturally they do not allow one to upgrade the lock, they tell you to buy a new safe. Other than that I love my safe. Has power, led lights, USB charger. |

Take some time to read up in the safes and home security forum. Lots of very good info. OP - click on the Armory tab at the top of ar15.com, then scroll down and you will find the forum mentioned above. It's been awhile since I've surfed there, but if I remember correctly there is a rep from Liberty on there that you can get a quote from. Might be mistaken, but think it was Liberty. Also a couple other guys on there that are in the gun safe industry providing good info. |

You will be better informed on your purchase and gun safes in general. |
