Recently I was involved in a minor traffic altercation. When the LEO arrived I presented my DL and my CHL. The Leo than asked me to return to my vehicle and place my handgun in the car. I felt it was improper but I complied. What do you guys think.

I know the law says you should allow them to disarm you if they want to, but I've never heard of this. Seems unusual, but not illegal.

Strange but perfectly legal. Every time I have come into contact with an officer they thank me for telling them and that is that. I've had a couple ask "Where is it?". I told them it was in a holster on my right hip, and they responded "Just leave it there" and everything went ahead as normal after that. |
| Well, in my experience, and I sometimes may be a bit over the limit on an open road, I have had two officers "disarm" me. First was an Austin officer, young, told him the firearm was in the truck console, he asked me to exit the vehicle, ran me, then told me to have a nice day. Second was a young state trooper, he asked me to exit, hands on tailgate and told me he was going to take my gun, it was an LCP, in my pocket. He did, placed it in the truck bed, took my knife also and put it in the truck bed. Ran me, told me to retrieve when he left and to have a nice day. Note that both officers were young and were very cool about everything. |

I've never had any reason to do so and I likely wont, if I haven't already. Theres not many situations I haven't dealt with. That said, it's written into the statutes, so theres little one can do about it otherwise. |
