| I am pretty new to Texas. I am in Arlington and in my backyard we have tons of squirrels. What say ye about killing and possibly eating these bastages. I am only renting this place but I still don't want them to destroy shit around here. If I do kill them do you think they are safe to eat. I would rather not kill something and have it go to waste but I also don't want to bring in some nasty parasite infested thing to make my family sick. Thanks! |

I used to live in SW Arlington, with a large tree in the back. Squirells loved that tree. On many ocassions they were quite tasty. |

Awesome. I just wasn't sure since I am in the middle of the city. Thanks! I think my 8 year old and I will be getting some meat next time they are out. Check local laws before shooting as most cities prohibit shooting. Some cities exempt pellet/bb guns as long as projectile doesn't leave your yard. |

What kind of bait? I've tried peanut butter but they ignore it. Quoted:

cheap live trap from Tractor Supply + bait = easy kill with no risk of missing. squirell pole is good too. What kind of bait? I've tried peanut butter but they ignore it. no clue. I had enough room to safely shoot with Colibri. fruit or peanuts maybe? the pole doesnt need bait, since they'd rather be on a branch than the ground. |

Can you expand on this? I'm having some rodent issues and looking to eliminate the entire neighborhood of those creatures. |

What about rats? Do you need a license to hunt cockroaches? Quoted:

Local police in my town say I need a hunting license to eliminate squirrels....YMMV.
What about rats? Do you need a license to hunt cockroaches? I have been looking and it seems this is all of Texas. Need a hunting license to go after these pests. It says there is no season, but you need to be licensed. I am liking the trap idea. Seems like a good way to get rid of the rodents without technically "hunting" them. |

I know there are some exceptions for nuance animals on your property though. Summer time they have several parasites. I can't clean them and keep my appitite. |

Vince That's weird, why wouldn't this fall under the provisions for property owner or owners agent to kill pests on the property? If i own a piece of land and i have problems with hogs/coyotes/nuisance animals, i don't need a license to clear them. |

I can see it being an issue not having a hunting license being in the field with a .22 or shotgun hunting them... But not in OP's case. Especially since he is new to residence, if by some VERY VERY RARE chance someone asked, I wouldn't tell them I was catching them to eat. I would inform them I was eliminating a destructive pest that cost me several thousands of dollars of damage to my last home after they destroyed the eave of my house and got into attic and then destroyed insulation. |
