My wife works nights and is home during the day. We have a monitor for our security cameras in the bedroom so you can lay in bed and see what's going on. Today she noticed a police car next door for more than an hour.

I asked around, found out that my neighbor 3 doors down had his new Ford F250 stolen from his driveway about 11am.

I can only see part of it on my video, but they dumped another stolen truck, hopped into his truck and were gone in 30 seconds!

Does Ford just hand out spare keys to their trucks or what?

Pretty much.  Their ignition modules just pull out of the console.  Put in a new one.

Youre going to provide your security camera video to the police right?

There was an older post that F250's are real popular for the smuggling types. Something like the King Ranch editions and crew cabs that they can fit all kinds of goodies in, then turn a profit stripping them after.

Already emailed the chief some screen captures last night. Yes, we've chatted via email before. I have the video on a usb drive in my pocket, I'm just waiting for someone to call me. Given the distance, you can't ID the person, but it gives you a timeframe of what happened.

Wow!! It's that easy? Does that mask or alter any factory installed gps too?

Dropped off the video. I didn't stick around. They said if they couldn't get it to play on their PC they'd come over to the house with a camcorder and video it off my monitor.

You seem to the the "Lucky Guy" who is always around when "not so good things" occur to those around you.

So logically, Please keep your distance from me & mine at all times...

...  Just  Kidding!!

Glad you are safe and riding out the crime wave around you...

I didn't even tell you about the pan handler on Loop 12 yesterday who was pissed off and slapped my drivers side window when I wouldn't give him any money or roll down my window. He's been there several times before, but this is the first time he's been so insistent and touched the car. We were already rolling away when he did it.

I won't let myself get stuck at that light any more.

That's not entirely true and that's not how they steal them so easily.

The ignition switch can be removed somewhat easily but it requires removing the column cover, unlocking the wheel and you still need something jammed in the ignition for Superduties.  There is a detent ball that needs to be pressed in under the bottom cover while something is in the ignition.

The reason they can be stolen so easily is because all you need is a flat head screw driver.  You punch the door lock in and then jam the screw driver in the ignition and turn.  Sometimes you need a hammer to drive it into the ignition.  They sell a product called jimmy Jammers fairly cheap to keep the locks from being punched out.  It's a cheap investment for any vehicle. I have had my F250 stolen and I saw most of it on camera.  They were in and driving away in less than 2 minutes.  Got it back 6 hours later and they caught the guys who did it two weeks later.

They were going to take my truck to Mexico is what they told the police detective.  The truck was in a gated community and they drove through the gate on the way out.  The gate cut the tire just enough so the thieves had a blowout 5 miles from my home and they left it there because it was pouring that morning.

For inexpensive, effective theft deterrents, it's pretty hard to beat a properly-installed hidden kill switch.

Bonnieview. One of the prime commercial real estate areas of South Dallas. There's a Williams Fried Chicken and a car wash there. There's also a 7-11 and a donut store run by some decent Asian people, but we quit shopping there because we'd have 2 or 3 pan handlers harassing us for money every time.

That was done within a week of getting my truck back.
