Hello from Arizona!

I'm being sent for work to Austin for two weeks, and I've never been there before.

What are some must-visit places / restaurants that I should visit while I'm there?

Thanks in advance

Have a gun?

Seriously, what  food you looking for?  You can find good stuff for anything but seafood.   Try the Texas Chili Parlor in the 1400 blk of Lavaca downtown.

Franklin BBQ

Halal Bros/Guys

P Terry's

Hopdoddy

Gourdough's

One of the many food trailers (Dock and Roll, Hey!...You Gonna Eat or What?, Might Cone to name a few)

Entertainment:

Barton Springs (swimming/people watching)

Rainey Street (drinking)

360/Pennybacker Bridge overlook

Stand Up Paddle Boarding on Town Lake (nice place to run too if that's your bag)

Peter Pan Putt Putt (BYOB is awesome)

Zilker Park (nothing really special but good place to play pick up volleyball, football, frisbee, and soccer games)

Have fun!

Thanks a bunch for the replies! I'll probably be busy most weeknights, but I'll have the whole weekend to myself, so it helps to have an idea of what's around.

I love just about every kind of food, but especially barbecue and (real) chili, so getting some actually from Texas is kind of a priority!

I've heard that Austin is kind of a leftist bastion, so I'm already prepared for that. If those places aren't especially far, I bet they'd be fun to visit.

If you're up early enough on Saturday morning, (like 8AM ish), swing out to Snow's in Lexington. They open at about 8 and run until they sell out, which is usually 10AM-ish.

They were #1 on Texas Monthly's Best BBQ in Texas.... and for good reason.
