I got my CHL application mailed in on the 13th, but the status still shows "License Status: Application processed online. Concealed Handgun Licensing is waiting on the receipt of required materials. Once the application and materials have been received by Concealed Handgun Licensing and processing has begun, a more detailed status will appear on this page."
I mailed it from Austin to Austin, so it should have arrived in the mail by now. Should I be concerned that the paperwork got lost in the mail? EDIT: Got it Oct4. |

What you experience is the norm. |

Any idea what the total wait time is? I'm hoping this isn't the "the law says 40 days, but usually it's closer to six months" shit I delt with in MA. Mine ran about 90 days. I was too honest and some of the stuff I disclosed could not be verified since Maine didn't keep records for certain things after the conversion to computer files. |

Spet. 7, had all my stuff done and mailed to DPS on Sept. 13th. There was no update on-line until Oct. 4th, when it listed that everything was received and I was sent for background check. I cleared the background check on Oct. 9th, and the site had my CHL listed as "mailed" yesterday. Hopefully it is in my mailbox this afternoon or Monday. I think it really depends on how long you sit in the background check, but based on my wait time you should have updates pretty soon. Also, I have to pass the same background check for my profession, so I have no idea if recently passing it helped or not. Best of luck. |

I did my renewal (first renewal) on August 6th. Called them on Sept 3rd (i think) and they marked me to "in progress".
Called yesterday to verify again that I didn't need to mail in my barcode. They told me I didn't have to. Told me they were still reviewing. I hope this comes through soon. My CHL expires on Nov. 2nd. Which is why I renewed so early. |
