Yesterday I saw several flying around the yard. Even though they make a mess on the trucks it means the weather is fixin to change. Dont know about ya'll but I'm ready for some cooler weather.

Took me a second to get what you were referring to - yeah, they make a hell of a mess on the truck when you drive thru a pack of them. Don't know why they hang out on the highways though - doesn't seem like a good place to ensure the survival of the species

I drove from Dallas to Joplin and back this weekend. The front of my truck is furry with these little idiots.

In East Texas everyone calls them Love Bugs. Their splatter will eat your paint. Wash it off, pronto.

love bugs,
Years ago, drove from DFW to Picayune Mississippi during love bug season in my BRAND NEW 1 day off the lot truck.

drove back 3 days later and still BUGS A MILLION splattering the windshield.

got home, washed the NEW Truck and realize the damn things were embedded INTO the paint and the coating they put on the windshield safety glass.
freaking embedded In the stuff. 4 years later there was still evidence where the damn things were still in the paint and windshield.

I'm in the College Station/Brazos valley area and I really don't remember them being bad at all the last 5-6 years, knock on wood.

Is it bad when you are no longer bothered by being bite and you'd rather deal with them than deal with the stinking sticky mess of mosquito spray??    Can't tell you the last time I bought spray and I get to deal with saltgrass mosquitos....
