| No topic yet for our neighbors to the north? I just moved from Dallas to Norman, OK about 4 weeks ago. This is the worst devastation I have ever seen. These folks need our prayers. And they also need all the helpthey can get. I would hope the folks of Texas will prove to everyone in the Nation that they are the most caring and most active. I urge anyone and everyone to look for ways to donate anything that is needed. So, so many of these people have lost everything, for some, this includes their elementary aged children. |

I am on leave for the next week, I was wondering if I would just be able to go up there and help. Sir, I speak for all of us in OK and those in Moore when I say thank you for your generosity and for your service. I believe that they have a large amount of manpower from local fire departments, police departments, state agencies, OK National Guard, and now that Pres. Obama has declared it a National Disaster area there will be federal agencies involved too. So I would say that you can spend your leave resting and enjoying the time you have with your family and friends. Again, thank you for your generosity and your service. God Bless you. |

Just to be clear I am on leave from a Federal Agency, not the mil. Although I was thinking that they would have a good amount of people helping out already. I called my agency and asked if any plans to send our disaster team and they have not been called up. |

I thought the same thing, and was told there are plenty of people working the area, I'm on vacation this week as well. I'm still trying to find a contact, but I know the Red Cross was doing training this morning up there. Edit: if we get organized, I'll drive up from Austin. http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_1_5/1486440_Where_to_volunteer_in_OK_.html |

My daughter lives less than a mile from where the Tornado roped out. She and my 4 year old Grand daughter spent more than an hour underground in their tornado shelter. My Son in Law is currently in A-Stan. Thankfully, they and their home was spared. Since they climbed out of the shelter, she has cooked several meals for other Air Force families that lost everything, and has opened her home to a family that now has nothing.
I am very proud of my little girl and how she has "risen to the challenge" |
