Anybody lose a Rottweiler in the Lee County area? It showed up on our property drawn and dehydrated but after a pile of food and as much water as it could gulp it seems to be feeling fine. It will hopefully be picked up this week by Rottie Rescue where a new home awaits. If it's yours please IM me the gender and type of collar for identification.
....and if it was dumped, to whoever you are, you should be covered in grape jelly and staked to an anthill in August! |

check craigslist, and your PM's I had a pure golden retriever show up at my house one day, out of the blue. She got on my land by swimming down the creek that runs through my backyard. Quite impressive. Sweetest dog in the world, but showed up malnourished. My gf, a dog groomer, took her to work with her the next day and gave her a flea/tick bath, and a groom. We took care of this dog for 2 weeks looking for its owner on craigslist, posting flyers on the hike and bike trail on the other side of the creek....nothing. She had no collar, and no chip. After 2 weeks, I decide that we are going to keep her because she was fantastic. so i tell my gf, she agrees...but decides to check craigslist one last time..... lo and behold....someone pisses a "missing dog" ad, and a picture of the dog we had. my heart sank. After looking at the picture a little further, I started debating whether I really wanted to call these people. the picture was of her, and her obvious male counter-part golden retriever friend, sitting in a bathtub half full of brown water out in the woods. red flags went up, and i voiced them to my gf....who then convinced me "if your dog ran away, you would want her back too....look, they even posted a lost dog ad" im like...yea....2 weeks after they lost her.....but i begrudgingly agreed to call them and return the dog. so, i call the number.....not knowing who would be on the other end. a man picks up, and i get him to further confirm the dogs details and that its his. he tells me her name finally (we had been calling her "dog") and she responded. Jayden. Stupid name for a dog I thought. I proceed to ask the guy where he lives.... TURNS OUT this was my neighbors dog from 2 doors down. Single dad with 2 sons. So we bring her back over to their house....a few pounds heavier, nourished, clean, tick and flea free..... The first thing they do, "oh hey look, our dog is back". Take off the collar I put on, and let her run free out in their front yard. She runs immediately to the other golden and then they take off together into a pool of brown water, through mud, and then off into the forest at night. Owners response was "yea, they just do that. we just let them run around wherever, they always come back". I was INFURIATED. The dog will swim to our house about once a month now. She knows how to get to our house. It kills me having to take her home each time. |
