Urge Your State Representative
To Be A Co-Author! Dear TSRA Members, Family and Friends: TSRA needs your help! HB 972 by Rep. Allen Fletcher (R-Tomball) is the comprehensive version of Concealed Carry on Campus. HB 1077 by Rep. Tim Kleinschmidt (R-Lexington) and HB 1078 by Rep. Tim Kleinschmidt also deal with aspects of the Concealed Carry on Campus issue. All three campus bills plus HB 700 by Rep. George Lavender dealing with Licensed Open Carry were heard in House Committee on Homeland Security and Public Safety were heard two weeks ago. All pending a vote. This is not unusual and all were heard earlier this session than in previous sessions. During the 2011 Session, Rep. Driver's Campus Carry bill was voted-on on March 31st. We are NOT behind the clock this session. This is not the time for attacks and negative thinking. Speaker of the House Joe Straus (R-San Antonio) has been kept in the loop and up to date at his request. So has Lt. Governor Dewhurst in the Senate. You will notice on the list below that Rep. Fletcher is the vice chairman of this committee and Rep. Lavender is a committee member. All these bills and other pro-gun issues are being heard during the Thursday committee hearings in a timely fashion. Members of the committee, five Republicans and two Democrats, believe this legislation, and other gun bills, will be voted-on soon, possibly the week after Easter.
