No drilling in my immediate area As of yet no sirens Highway department/state/somebody blew up a bridge somewhere. The weatherford bridge. Dunno if it's in heb or not. Happened right about that time. It was not noticeable next door in the "B" all I can tell you. |

http://www.star-telegram.com/2013/03/17/4709433/bridge-work-to-cause-traffic-issues.html Before the blast, TxDOT spokeswoman Jodi Hodges had said: "There may be some small explosives, but we're not advertising that to the world. It's very controlled and very minor. We've certainly talked with all the local fire department and police and all that, but mostly it's just demolishing that bridge and hauling off the debris. "Rodricks, who watched the demolition with other officers, said everyone was surprised by how loud the explosion was, including one military veteran.

I bet that sound carried pretty nicely along the Trinity river bottom, which runs basically from downtown to your neighborhood.
Dry (dense) air in place across the area behind the cold front would help sound travel as well, as would the overcast (albeit 30kft) skies. I grew up in Euless but up on the north side (Main/Glade), I'll have to ask my folks if they heard anything last night. |
