Anybody been out there? How is the fishing? Im home for a week and me and my dad were gonna go get some fishing in.

I go as often as I can and have since the '69s. The fishing is usually very good, especially on the smaller lakes. Black Creek Lake, Big and Little Cottonwood lakes get a lot of pressure, but Black Creek has some large bass. I usually fish Clear Lake. Rhodes and Chicken lakes are also good but you would need a small boat- shore fishing is very limited at all of the lakes. I usually throw a crankbait. It really doesn't matter which crank I use- the bass are starving. Most of the lakes have decent to good catfish. |

What do you mean by limited exactly i.e. grass and weeds vs too steep of banks/cliffs. I have never been there and we will be coming up from Mansfield, so its a little bit of a drive to get there and figure out we cant do any bank fishing |

Some of the shore just isn't accessible due to thick growth. Even if you could get to the shore there is no way to make a cast. It sounds like Clear Lake would be a good choice. I fish there often. It has a fishing dock and is easy to get to from I-287. When you are on the dock facing the lake, cast off the NE corner at about a 45* angle as far as you can throw a crankbait. There is a submerged tree there that always holds bass. |
| I am working up in sunset and have been back roading/scouting the area's near Alvord/sunset. We found a spot the other day that we went back and fished. Caught a bunch of small bass from the shore but nothing legal. I think the gate had a brown 2 on it but not sure. I don't have a map so we just kinda happen upon them screwing off after work. |

I think that's Windmill Lake. If so it is flyfishing only. |

Chicken Lake is on the west side of 287. You have to park at the gate and walk about 100 yards to get to the water, and I have only seen one place where you can fish from the shore. The last time I was there the cattails were all around the shore except the NE corner. |

Cooler of sandwiches and cold ones made it a rough day Wow, that is really low. The water is usually within 3 or 4 feet of the deck. I plan on taking my kids fishing there Friday. We may need to go to Black Creek instead of Clear lake. That might be too low for them to cast for perch. |
