Apologies to all the people who will slam this question. I am relatively new to AR world, last year or two. Unfortunately, the way I see it this ban will probably go through. My question is what will the ban encompass, and yes I have read the stickies all over the place on the forum but they do not appear to be specific beyond the rifle, mags and lower ownership. Is it only rifles, handguns with high cap mags and lowers, or will it include items like collapsible stocks, flash hiders etc.
If you have a lower receiver now and the ban goes through in the near future will you be able to get a lower parts kit and the like to finish building or will things related to AR-15's be banned also.

I don't think this can be answered until we see what is passed if something is passed.  Best thing to do now is contact your representative and senator and ask them to vote against the ban so you won't have to worry about anything being banned.

There isn't going to be a ban. Stop giving up before the fight even starts.

They might ban anything and everything. Therefore, you should play it safe and give all of your guns to me, just in case.

Seriously, there isn't even a bill in Congress yet, and you're already giving up? No wonder there's a kazillion gun laws that make no sense, even though we vastly outnumber the anti-gunners and have the facts on our side. The Republicans are more pro-gun than they've been in a long time, and they control the House with a 34-seat advantage, and there's still enough in the Senate for a good filibuster. We've got what we need to stop this in its tracks, as long as we believe that we can. Just say no to more gun control.

You won't know until you see the actual legislation.  One thing is for sure however, if the liberals keep pushing this, they will not simply re-use the 1994 legislation, they will learn from history and anything they propose now will be far more encompassing.

Everything is speculation... but whatever it is - it won't be pretty...

My take: We will see a tighter 94 ban resurrected..

They will have to pass it to see what's in it.

WIth all due respect, if youve read all the stickes and "what if" threads then you know precicley as much as the rest of us.
We arent witholding anything.
As others have said, IF anything passes it will be at least comperable to the 94 ban. Evil features like PG's, folding stocks, flash hiders, forward grips, etc may be illegal to put on a post ban rifle. Mags were transferrable back in the last ban but not manufactured. If you need a measuring stick to get your rifle up to snuff "just in case" then you have that to go on.
