I hope they catch the thieves.  Thieves should be summarily executed by a painful method.

Well this is a scary update.

Some neighborhood kids came to my buddy and said that a local 9 year old is bragging that he stole the gun. Turns out, this kid and his brother have been going through cars in the area looking for cash.

Lewisville PD says they cant/wont do anything about it.

I am scared that the gun is hidden somewhere, and that another kid will find it and kill someone.

What's LPD's reasoning behind this?

They said that other kids talking about it is not enough to go on.

Statements from witnesses to a suspect's bragging about a crime they wouldn't know about any other way is not enough to go on WTF?

All I can think about is a random kid finding the gun hidden in some bushes and playing with it.

Only until someone gets shot and/or killed. Then, they'll have enough to do something about it.

If  the PD is aware of the new update, then the liability is theirs.  A good detective should be able to investigate further.

If they TRULY are not interviewing anyone based on this, this is unacceptable.  It dont matter what you can PROVE.  You rattle cages and see what happens.

Why do you all leave firearms in your vehicle?

EDIT: Just read it was a friend that screwed the pooch.

Fuck it, investigate yourself. Or hire a Private I to do it for you.

I can see them checking out ARFCOM for leads..."No captain, I wasn't looking at the equipment exchange again...I swear!"

Is that the pistol the guy left laying on the dash and the door unlocked?

I hope not. I don't think so.

Don't ever leave a gun in your car.  If you know you cant carry where you are going, leave it at home.

I am the owner of the stolen gun.

Thanks spud, for getting the word out there so quickly.

No I was not the guy that left it on the dash with the doors unlocked. It is rare that I leave it in the car, but I did and it got swiped. We have a pretty good idea of who took it, and when I spoke to the detective earlier it did appear that he was getting the job done. I was disappointed with the patrol officer that I talked to on Saturday when I had the updated information that it might have been a 10yr old kid. I just assumed that with it possibly being a child with a loaded handgun, there would have been something done right then and there. Thanks to a buddy volunteering as backup, we went over to talk to the parents and also did a quick scan to see if the kid maybe stashed it in the flood control ditch. No luck at either one, so I just decided to keep my kid indoors all weekend...just in case.

That really sucks that this happened to you. Hopefully this all gets resolved and the little bastards get some kind of punishment for this (if they took it. if they didn't they are still little bastards )
