I've had some pretty good luck with TGT over the last few months and years. I understand everybody is looking for a bargain, but when you start emailing me telling me my stuff is over priced and you can get a new one for that price, then I suggest you go (A) Get a new one at that price, (B) Leave me the hell alone, and (C) go fuck your own face. I mean really, is your life so empty that you have the time to send me hateful emails complaining that "it's people like you" that are causing the price of everything to go up? The only thing I want to go up is the shoulder thing! I mean really, get off your high horse shithead. I'm trying to offload some stuff before I move and you're being a douche canoe. If one of you was the one who wrote that to me, I hope your fucking ballsack catches on fire and goddamn Pele shows up to stomp it out.
Rant complete. |

Yeah I know what you mean. I have had several emails before when selling pretty rare guns here and there and other items. The "fuck your own face" summed up my response in 4 words. Also one of my all time favorite quotes. Maybe I should just send that instead of typing out an elaborate response next time????
Definitely lots of scams out there too though lmao. Saiga rifles with a tapco stock screwed to it for $850. *face palm* Trust me gomer, thats not a conversion. |

"Your gun is only worth $250 and I'm not paying a cent more." I always send back "it's worth $750 and I'm not letting you buy it". |
I was so excited because a guy posted a TRP for 850.00 as soon as I refreshed and I sent him a email saying I will take it. He responded 2 days later saying it was mine and when could we meet. I told him to meet me at CTD in Mckinney at 6pm that day, went to bank to get money out, while at the bank he emails me back saying he was in Eugene, OR and would ship me the gun as soon as he got Money Order..wtf
I emailed him back "Go choke on a dick and suck start a glock" he hasn't responded. I know, too good to be true... |

I hear ya. Some folks can be douche canoes (I love that phrase!).
In the past ten or so years that I've bought, sold, and traded guns and stuff using TGT, gunbroker, the EE here, and the FAL Files, I've seen quite a few of those emails. Yeah, sometimes it feels insulting, but I try not to take the lowballers seriously. I just thank them for their offers and let them know that I'll be in touch whether or not the item sells at my asking price. I can't recall accepting a single lowball offer (sure, I accepted quite a few reasonable offers). After the item sells, I reply to let the lowballers know that the item sold and that I appreciated their interest, regardless of how much of a douche canoe they were to me. That said, buying and selling gun stuff is a hobby for me. I do it for fun, not to supplement my income. Consequently, I prefer to price things so they'll sell easily, even if it means taking a loss on the item. I rarely have difficulty getting my asking price (I'd be a damned hungry salesman if that was my occupation). I look at any loss as entertainment value and move on. If I was more serious about buying and selling, I'd probably get more irritated with lowballers. |

I gave up on that and TexasHuntingForum since nobody wants to do any paperwork (FFL) and they'd rather trade a Bowie Knife, three cans of Skoal and a goat for your stuff. THF is the biggest bunch of tire kicking, window shopping (and licking) shitheels. Guys will stomp all over ads and clearly violate their rules and the mods do nothing. My guess is it's moderated by an FFL out of Wolfe City who lets the stopping happen on purpose. There is a McKinney Area Gun Trader forum on Facebook and a Paris Area Gun Trader. It's mostly FUDD crap and few junky ARs the owner finds to be invaluable. If more people joined these for the smaller sale stuff-parts, knives, etc, they'd be pretty decent. |

They see a pic of something they like an start emailing with trade offers, "Hey, I'll trade you an old bowling ball, a broken compound bow, 3 empty shotgun shells and 30 minutes with my little sister for your XXXX". It gets old quick. These days I stick to the EE here. |

I've used TGT in past with limited success. I ALWAYS got an offer for 50% value but I didn't get upset or take it personal. I did have problems with one guy that only wanted to kick the tires AFTER I warned him I wouldn't show up for him to play with it.... I received many offers for lower quality firearms and sometimes accepted the challenge. There are always great deals to be had if you're patient but I would only do ftf.

Lots of deals to be had if you're quick and watching it all the time. The guys send out those offers because people take em sometimes. I've bought 3 gen 3 glocks for 350 on there. Same here, I'll offer lower than a person is asking and the worst they can say is "no" or rant like the OP has done. I've had some really good buys on TGT. I have also bought a couple with no haggling on the price, if they are reasonable to start with. |

If I want to sell something for $400 I'll ask $425 or something. Most people recognize this and offer the obvious amount. He's talking about the dickheads that offer $200 for a $400 item. It's normally the same one or two idiots that do it to every single ad. Getting a good buy is one thing. Trolling an ad board hoping to score is what these shitty, barely modded boards are all about. The other problem is the idiot who has no clue and thinks his Tapco-fucked Hesse cobbled "M4" topped with a "sniper scope" is worth $2000. |

I have had a couple times where some people have been struck by the offer and didnt even realize what cool stuff is out there, and second thought their deals. But I know I just listed a Revolver for $275 the other day. Its a Charter Arms, which is a company where you need to be careful what you buy, but the model revolver I listed is reputable all over the internet as reliable, and many police carried them. Listed it for $275, some fuckhead just emailed me a few minutes ago saying he would offer me $150 top dollar. I got an offer for $250 just last night, and if this guy falls through another guy offered $275 and would come pick it up. I told the guy he was wasting my time. Sheesh. |

Agreed, few trolling for the low hanging fruit only to turn around and try to resell it days later. I will admit, it's hard to control myself when I see those Tapco'd things up there for huge asking prices. I really do just want to knock them on the head for being stupid, then again, if some Fudd decides he wants to buy "the ultimate Tier 1 Sniper rifle" for 2x the true value. Good on the seller I suppose.

Even though it was a totally legal transaction it was a nice little adventure when the Webster Police showed up immediately after I had given the seller the money. |
| I have bought one gun off of TGT, and it was a smooth transaction. I have missed several deals by not keeping an eye on it enough, and sadly I missed a sweet deal by being one of those guys that offered too little and then realized what the gun was worth. I then tried to offer the asking price and the guy would not even talk to me. So now I do a little more research before making an offer. |

Man...I have one FAL exactly like that from Arizona Response System. What's the difference between a standard FAL and Rhodesian FAL? The parts... This FAL has all rhodie parts, but not the furniture.. The guy I bought it from switched it out and sold it. So I ordered the original Rhodie furniture with that nasty camo from Apex. It is on a CIA receiver which is so-so, but since it has all original matching rhodie parts... worth it. But either way, at that price it is still worth it, especially since mags are going for 25 a pop now. I got 7 of them.
The RA is Rhodesian Army. It was pencil etched because of an arms embargo during the time South Africa sold them to Rhodesia, the stripped them of all markings. |
