Time is money. 30 minutes of a FFL's time is worth more than 10 bucks. Don't worry, I call ahead and if you tell me $25 then you don't have to worry about me ever coming to your door again. |

I've always thought this was one of the interesting differences between dealers.
Some dealers are resentful that you aren't buying the gun from them so they price their transfers higher out of spite or at the very least to close the price gap Other dealers look at transfers as a cheap way to start a relationship with a new customer compared to other ways to advertise. I wonder how many businesses would LOVE to have customers pay $10 to come visit them. |

There's a store here that lost every sale from me ever because he threw out some outrageous number when I asked about a transfer once. I spend a lot of money on guns, parts and accessories and I'll drive to Dallas now before I'll step foot in that store. I hope that the thousands he lost from me alone was worth it to him to really try to get one over on me for a transfer. There are a lot of places out there to buy stuff or to have guns transferred to so if people want to over charge then they can have at it cause there's somebody down the street that won't. |

$25.00 is the cheapest I've heard of in the Austin area. Some charge $40.00 like some gunsmith hack rip-off on S. Congress I found a guy in Oak Hill that does them for $10. Can't be Red's. The pawnshop across the parking lot? Some guys do it that aren't even in the gun business but have an FFL. Like a guy who owns mechanics shop in Burnet Co. who'll do it for $25.00. I found the one's that are the gougers don't think the customer knows any better and are the shady dickwads you wouln't trust to buy a gun from let alone work on it. |

I'd be interested in knowing, too, since I live in south Austin. Not long after I moved to Austin about 12 years ago, I stopped in at Red's (south) and asked them if they would do a transfer. They said they didn't do them. More or less, they wanted to sell you what they had in stock. I tried to appeal to their business sense about making money without having to invest dollars in their inventory, but they weren't interested. |

$10 transfer?!?!?!?! My FFL does transfers for LEO's for free... But have NEVER left his place without leaving a $20 on his table....
STOP BEING CHEAP OR GET YOUR FFL!!!!!! Going through FFL proceess and maintianing it is TOO MUCH FOR ME!!! I'll gladly donate $20, or $80 every year not to deal with having a FFL. STOP BEING CHEAP!! FFL HAS GOT TO MAINTAIN RECORDS FOR MORE THAN 24HRS!!!! |

Anybody tried Sporting Arms in Lewisville lately? I called last year about having a Springfield TRP transferred by them and was told $10 or $15. Not recently. I've done a couple of transfers with them, and all were great/no issues. Very friendly to deal with. I think back then I paid $25 for the fee though. I switched to Lewisville Pawn, because they are closer to my residence, and their hours of operation made it easier. (IIRC, Sporting Arms has some days/hours they are not available during the week/weekend.) |

Like he said...get your own FFL if you don't like the transfer fee. Why when there are plenty of FFL's that will do it for a reasonable cost? It's their business and they can charge whatever they want and I'm free to simply go to someone who isn't trying to screw you over. Pretty neat how that works, huh? |

Just had a customer leave (we charge $10 w/ chl). He told me he had a guy in Grapevine do a transfer for him last week and charged him $45 + tax. Now in my opinion that's screwing the customer over! |

The FFL is use chagres $10 bucks if you have a chl and $15 if you don't. He said that since he started doing it that way he does over 200 transfers a month. Everyone at that place are total dicks too bu tthey still get a lot of transfers because they are cheap.
Sometimes it pays more to charge less. |

LOL. Instead of getting my own FFL I just use someone who already has one and charges $25.00. Without a current CHL it took him less then five minutes to make a phone call to make sure I wasn't a bad guy, was an American citizen and hadn't just been released from Rusk State Hosp. Everybody goes away happy. |

North Texas Ordnance in McKinney does CHL transfer for $10.00 and non-CHL for $15.00. I believe he told me he will match prices on any advertised firearm.

The information in his "FAQ" is taken word for word from the information I emailed to him in 2010. I did a couple of transfers for him and his brother a year or so back. He's the second FFL in McKinney to plagarize my information. |

I just laughed at him and said ok with a big smile on my face. Needless to say I didn't buy anything before I left. |

I've had several dealers steal my pictures in the past to use on their websites. |

Ha here is an ideal, why don't you buy your fire arms from a local dealer and you will not have to pay a transfer fee. The reason many gunshops change 45 or 50 bucks for a transfer is its take time to do the paperwork, store the paperwork for years, and more important it distracts staff from helping customers that are there to buy something. Also a lot of dealers are getting tired of transfering a weapon for someone when they have that same weapon in stock ready to sale. It's one thing to transfer a used or rare fire arm but in most cases it's ha I want to transfer this Glock ** in 9mm. Just support your local dealer and be done with it. |

Only things I've ever transferred is ar15 lowers because I'll buy several at a time and a few misc guns that people have traded me over the years and I'm just not going to pay a bunch for that. I don't give a fuck what kind of stupid excuses that you or anybody else try to make up. Store the paperwork for years? Give me a fucking break. That is the absolute lamest excuse ever.
Either way, there are plenty of people out there that won't charge me a lot or act like it's a huge inconvenience. I don't feel the need to support a shitty business that I don't like just because they're local. So far this year I've build up 3 identical AR15's that were a little over $3k each not counting taxes. I could have probably got most of the stuff at a local shop but I didn't bother because I don't like them because they wanted to charge too much to transfer an ar15 lower (which they did not carry) years ago. I'm very loyal and will pay more money to people I like just because I like them. It's not the money that is important, it's the principal of the matter. The guy I referenced above has lost thousands and thousands of dollars in sales and not just from me but from a lot of people that I've told not to go there. I'm the guy that people come to when asking gun questions and I tell everyone to avoid that place because he's a ripoff. But it's his business and he can do it however he wants and I can give my money to someone else. He loses the sales, I don't lose anything. In any case, regarding your great "ideal" you thought you had, I don't feel the need to put up with some jackass fuck wad just because he's close to me. |

It's one thing to transfer a used or rare fire arm but in most cases it's ha I want to transfer this Glock ** in 9mm. Just support your local dealer and be done with it. Its called simple economics... For instance I went into my local gun store yesterday to price check a Remington 870 (Tactical)<––I hate this word. The gun store price was fucking $399 plus tax which comes out to $431.91! I can order that same exact gun from Buds for $351 no tax and it ships free. All it costs me to transfer is $17.50. Do the math that's over $60 cheaper. The gun store was all to quick to tell me they charge $75 for transfers due to all the stuff they have to buy to stay in spec with the laws meaning safes and crap they should have already had for the last 25 plus years. He also tried to steer me away from purchasing online because I could receive a damaged firearm and be stuck with it and the transfer dealers only job is to transfer it not send it back blah fucking blah. Needless to say that trip reminded me of why I don't buy from local rip off gun stores really anymore, They cant compete |

How about you cheap bastards tell us where you work. That way we can come in and finger all your product, and then low ball the hell out of your prices. Then when you won't match some Internet price from BFE, how about we buy their product and then have it shipped to your place of business. Then we will call you every day 3 or 4 times a day to see if it's there yet, bitching that the UPS web site shows that it will be delivered today.
Let's get 10 to 20 people to do that every day youre open, for what 100.00 - 200.00. |

That way I don't have to hear all the gun store commando crap and have every dumb shit in their "finger" my "low ball" purchase because the dip shit behind the counter lets them. Its a buyers market. Gun stores can charge what they want for a ffl transfer, they just shouldn't be surprised if people go elsewhere and they loose the foot traffic when they find someone that can and will do it cheaper |

I don't finger any guns unless I'm checking it out right before I buy it, and unless you're a pawn shop with used guns I don't negotiate prices. If the price is in the ballpark then I'll buy it. Money isn't the number one issue with me. I know what is involved with a transfer and I know what it's worth to me, if a dealer wants to charge way too much then they've lost all my business. I don't give a fuck if they run the sale of the century, I'll spend more to buy from someone else on principal alone. I hate to tell you but no dealer has the market cornered on whatever I'm looking for. However, I do have the market cornered on the wad of $100's in my pocket when I show up at their place. They can charge whatever they want and act however they want because FFL's are a dime a dozen. If I don't like their prices or the way they treat people, not just me, in their store then I'll just go to another one. They think they're getting rid of a problem by acting that way or charging that much but they're really just costing themselves a lot of money from people like me. I'm far from cheap, it's just that my tolerance for assholes is low |

There are lots of places that I don't do business with. I just dont cry about it on the internet.
Again would either of you put up with customers coming in to where you worked and pulling this crap. No I dont work in any gun store and even deal with the public. I used to deal with the stupid public and that is how I got my user name, from dealing with cheap ass people that think they are going to get walmart pricing with top quality service. |

Nope and that's why I didn't start a business dealing with the public. It's rather humorous listening to people gripe about having to interface with the public when that is what their entire business revolves around. Makes me think that they aren't too smart or are very bad decision makers. No I dont work in any gun store and even deal with the public. I gathered that since with you attitude you'd either be fired or out of business in short order. |
For some reason this reminds me of the episode on Hardcore Pawn when the sleazebag pawn shop owner 'Les Gold' went to an indoor range / GS. After buying some Glocks he tried his pawnshop hustle on the owner, thinking he could jew him out of free holsters. Thats when the GS owner told them to get the f*ck out of his store LOL
