| Is it pronounced Boo Dah, or Buh you duh? |
|
Quoted:
I generally pronounce it budda - but that said I have lived in Austin and North Austin - not the land that time forgot. Went to Cabelas last night - oh my I forgot how horrid it was to drive down there after work. I got a job offer in Buda, but trying to commute from Cedar Park to there every day would have turned me postal. |

Quoted: Quoted: Buda is Boo da like Burnet is Burr net or Manchacha (man shack) is Man shacka. Not. I grew up in Manchaca. Here are my breakdowns: Byooda Bur net or Burnit Man-chack Burnet is definitely pronounced Burn-it..........I can't stand it when someone pronounces it Bur-nett, they do it all the time on Austin radio ads announcing business locations on Burnet Rd. I've heard this saying my entire life, " It's Burnet durn-it, why can't you learn it ?" ![]() FTR, Burnet native. |

What? That's only like 2 hours drive each way during rush hour... Even in light traffic its about an hour... For the management position and what they wanted to pay me coupled with me driving my full size truck was too cost prohibitive, more pay, I'd be fine with the drive. |

Buda is Boo da like Burnet is Burr net or Manchacha (man shack) is Man shacka. Not. Your version of the MAN SHACK is still wrong, it's more of like Man - Chaulka, not shacka. I pronounce Buda as BOODAH, even though I know people here call is BUEW DAH...and for the poster that lives in Kyle; every time I drive through there I yell "FUCK YOU KYLE," in Cartman's voice. Thank South Park |

Thank South Park Uh oh...Seattle...You need to tell everyone that lives down there (I did for ten years) including Johnny G's, Rail Road BBQ and Sarge's they don't know how to pronounce where they live. I'm sure they they'd appreciate it. |

I was at Railroad yesterday for lunch and a customer was bragging to Christine that he had been eating there for 11 years and that most customers couldn't say or beat that. She nodded towards me and the dude turns around. I said "Did you say 9 years?" and I told him I had been eating there since 1984 as a kid. His jaw dropped and said I won. I used to sneak out of the neighborhood on my bicycle with some friends and head up to RR for a brisket sammich. |

I don't commute home daily - home is 60 miles south of Austin (which is 75+ miles south of work at 183 and mopac). It takes 1:45 at rush to get from the office to home. Wed I was going to commute home and "swing" by Cabelas - it is less than 10 miles out of the way - but requires me to run down 35 to San Marcos and cut South from there - rather than my usual strait down 183 or 71. HELL it took well over 1 hr to get to Cabelas. Honestly by the time I exited the store (only to see they were not stocking a single item I went there for) I could have been having a beer at home. It was so late I gave up my commute that day and just headed for bed at the trailer. I suspect you would have been spending close to 3hrs a day trying to commute back and forth to Cedar Park. fwiw I used to live across from Cyprus Creek HS). |

If I have to go to my office in the morning, I have to allocate 45 minutes during rush hour if I want to be safe, and it's about a 15 minute drive without traffic. |

The Manchaca Rd & Slaughter Ln. area was my old stomping grounds back in the day. Graduated from Crockett HS in '89 and had several friends that lived off of Twin Creeks Rd. I worked at the Tom Thumb (started when it opened up) then Albertsons at Manchaca & Slaughter until '93. My wife grew up in Castlewood neighborhood and went to Johnston & Bowie in the same time frame. |

I drive by there all the damn time and always think "Fuck no" but if you seriously think it's good stuff, I will go eat there tomorrow for lunch. |

It's pronounced "Cah-bel-ahs". The "Buda" part is silent. http://etp.typepad.com/.a/6a00d8341ce91f53ef01053623f589970b-320wi |
