| So I'm fundraising officer in a non profit student organization and I made a call to the IRS today because our 501(c)3 number isn't available on a public record. Lady on the phone confirmed our tax ID number was valid/activated. Now, the few business I've asked for contributions from, they require "proof of 501(c)3" which to me, indicates a document, which according to the IRS is a whole new set of paper work.. Does this sound correct? I would think because its valid, it can be used as a tax write off. I just don't understand other than what I said what it could mean. Anyone knowledgeable on the subject? |

They are no doubt looking for a copy of your 501(c)3 designation letter.
