I hate making threads like this.. Wait no I don't..

Anyone know where I can buy just the "Takedown Pin Detent Spring." Mine was damaged by me, because I'm dumb. I would rather not buy a whole new LPK.

^^ this thing

I live on the lower side. I was thinking texas tac or sog?

I think both have small parts. I would pick up a couple springs and detents make life a little less stressfull.

I went to SOG for one of those springs I lost, the safety detent spring I think?...been a while since I was built the lower, can't remember which one I lost. Anyway, I have a friend who works there who probably would have given it to me, but he was not working that day. I was charged something in the $7-10 range for one spring. Another place sold me the wrong spring for $7 something. One place GAVE me a spring but it was the wrong one too.

You can get AR-15 spring replacement kits for $8-10 bucks such as: http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/ARR324-7.html

So I have the 2 springs that weren't the ones I needed (the one I paid for and the one that was given to me)...if it is the spring you need, I'd be more than willing to give you one. They are at home and I am not 100% which springs they were...so I'll have to check when I get home today. If it was the selector detent I lost, that means the ones they mistakenly sold/gave me were the takedown pivot pin springs.

That is high, most shops charge like a buck for one. I usually buy a few springs, detents and other lower part goodies with every order at Brownells. I stay right around $10 of small parts to every order, now I have box of all the little goodies to build a lower, loose a spring/detent no big deal just grab another.

After you get the spring you must do this simple mod:

http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_3_118/395777_Simple_fix_for_the_rear_takedown_detent_spring_blues____.html

I have a tap and die set and some extra set screws if you need them.

Easiest fix.. go to Lowes and buy a 1/4" cotterless hitch pin..    get rid of the spring, detent, etc.

$3.

Done.

I hate the rear takedown pin & the recoil spring/buffer retention design of the AR/M16.
