Team, I need a lawyer to get a Quit Claim Deed to get ex wife's name off my house. How difficult, or expensive, is this? Thanks everyone.

Is the ex fighting it or is she willing to sign the paperwork?  If she is willing, you can type up the paperwork yourself, have her sign it, and then file it at the courthouse (county clerk's office?).  I did that when I got divorced copying a form I found in a book about divorce in Texas.

Is she on the mortgage too?  If so getting her off that will be more difficult than just getter her to assign you her interest in the property.

I was divorced 10 years ago. The house went to my ex (I willingly did it), and I had a special warranty deed that said this.

HOWEVER, I called the loan company myself. I wanted off the mortgage - they would not let me off no matter what legal documents I had. So, if she would have stopped paying, it could effect my credit too.

After a year of pushing, I paid for the fees, and she re-qualified for the mortgage and I got let off the hook finally.

Anyway - if a mortgage is involved, it gets more difficult - my only point...
