My CHL expires in one month. If I take a class and send in the paperwork before it expires, what happens to my license? If I take a class and send in the paperwork after it expires, what happens to my license? |

DPS will process your application. IF they get your renewed license in your hand before your current one expires then you carry on. However, if your current license expires before DPS gets the renewed license to you, then you cannot carry. it is unlawful to carry without a current license in your possession.

Obviously you cannot carry on an expired license. However, you have one year after your license expires to renew. The result is you cannot carry until you receive the new license in the mail.
