My father and stepmother were out to visit this weekend, and we went to two museums while they were here.

The Boy Scouts of America National Museum is in Irving, TX and has a 30.06 sign up at the door. Other than that, I would recommend the museum if you have fond memories of your days in the Boy Scouts. They've got an extensive collection of the original BSA-themed paintings of Norman Rockwell.

The Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum is in Waco, TX and does not have a 30.06 sign up. They have a great display of Ranger memorabilia and history, especially weapons carried by Rangers ––some of them donated by the actual Rangers who carried them, or their families. There are displays up on a bunch of individual Rangers throughout history, like Lone Wolf Gonzaullas, Pete Rogers and of course Frank Hamer.

ETA: And the smoked pork loin at Rudy's BBQ on I-35 just south of the TRHoFaM is out of this world.

I've been to the Texas Ranger Museum 3 times and love it everytime I go. I highly recommend stopping off if you have a couple of hours spare time on your way through Waco. Not realy another reason to stop in Waco.
