| Can employee's time card be kept unavailable? I just got reprimanded because i was 1 min late. My problem is that i dont have access to my own time card. When arrivingmat work, you have to be buzzed into the building, from there you have to be buzzed into the outer vault where a vault clerk in the inner vault hands me my time card thru a window. And for those who think i should have gotten there earlier, does it matter if they are going to give it to you at their own leisure? |

The writing is there on the wall, you need to get out under your terms while the gettin' is good. Companies don't start formal disciplinary procedures w/o some kind of reason, and that reason is usually they are trying to set you up at very least to not get good reviews so you won't get a raise or they are trying to get rid of you. Either one is reason enough to bail. |
Better start looking for a new job. 1 minute late... ha! Like SJ above said, Either they are setting you up, or cracking down on people in general to tighten ship or make some examples or to lose people through attrition, have excuses not to give raises, etc... Something... Who would give a shit over 1 minute? |

Usually when a company pulls that stunt it means a new manager or they are looking to force people to quit/fired over penny anty games.
I have seen it before and unless you are indispensable or have a high output for your work then you have no bargaining power. Had one job where they tried to get me to quit. So I started looking for a new job on my own time. Ended up my supervisor played one trick too many before I could give notice to quit in 2 weeks. When he figured out what was going on he was then bargaining for if I was going to stay for the 2 weeks since the idiot fired 2/3 of the employees earlier. He figured the rest of us would just fill in. Spent the last day there playing the song 'Take this job and shove it' on a looped tape. Samething happened at the next job, I was responsible for keeping 63 peices of equipment qualified to run each week. They decided to close the shop. They laid off all my backups then my boss laid me off. Shop stopped production. I bargained and received my severance pay plus I worked 3 more months under contract 30 hour week with 40 hour pay. That boss was fired 4 days after I started back on contract. Start looking on your own time and if you find something better then leave. |
ha!
