Hey folks, I'm comin down from Oklahoma next weekend with the family. Were goin to the "Great Wolf Lodge" but takin a side trip to Allen for the outlet mall. What id like to know from you Allen, Tx folks is... what's there? Is there any gun shops or atleast a box of ammo somewhere? The misses and her friend already know what they are getting, its up to me to figure out what to do myself. Is there anything kid friendly? Gimme some low-down on your town. Thanks

There are two gunshops in Plano, about five minutes from Allen to the south, Gunmaster and Bullet Trap.  I like Gunmaster, BT not so much.

There are two gunshops in McKinney, about ten minutes from Allen to the north, Cheaper than Dirt which just opened, and a little shop with limited merchandise.  Plano and McKinney both have an Academy Sports.

Ammo should not be a problem.

Make sure you eat at Uncle Julios in Allen.  If you go on a Friday or Saturday order the Cadillac and split it with your wife.

Agreed, except countered on the restaurant.  Head West over to the other side of 75 and hit the Mexican place right there on the corner.  Much better food....

Isn't there a Dick's in the new Allen Center Mall? About 2 miles north of the outlet mall on 75.

Dick's Sporting Goods
170 E. Stacy Road
Suite 2310
Allen - (972) 678-0650

It's actually in the shopping center across the highway from the outlet mall.

The mall across 75 is worth visiting too. If your looking for another interesting and really beautiful mall, visit Watters Creek At montgomery farms on the south west corner of 75 and bethany behind the restraunts. Its hidding but there.

If you were coming down this weekend there is a fun show.  You need to change your plans.

I don't know that it will be a great show, but any show is a good show.

there is a lot of driving between great wolf lodge and allen.
But I guess you are coming down 75?

Also there is a bass pro near there, you see it on the way in to great wolf lodge. And a little bit aways from that is a cabella's.

I actually like the little mexican place los charos infront of the outlet mall, you see it as you come in from stacey rd.

too bad you aren't coming this weekend, across the highway will be a gun show.

Parking is a bitch at the outlet mall. And usually busy too. Chuy's in Plano is pretty good, on 75 between spring creek and parker.

The Allen Outlet mall sucks.  BT has a nice rental selection if you are looking to spend a few bucks and try something out.  Ammo prices are $$$ but they have had some sales going on there so who knows.  Lots of handguns to look at... not so much for long guns.

What out for the construction and traffic!!!!!!!!

Park behind the stores instead of in front.  Car burglaries happen all over that mall.

Are you coming in on 75? Cause the Allen Outlet really does suck. If you're coming in on 35 hit the outlet just outside of Gainsville.

We are coming down from I35 then headed to Allen for the Outlet mall.... just because it has a Coach store... then off to the lodge.
Oh damn, while im thinking of it, Texas honors OKs CCW laws right?

Sounds like you're going way the hell outta your way to hit that Coach store.

Yes, your OK CHL is good here. Just remember to present it with your DL when you're stopped.

You are GTG.
That damn Coach store has gotten my budget by the short hairs more than once. My wife loves em.
ON the weekends they frequently pass out coupons at the door for 20% or more off the ticketed price.
BTW, Chuy's is good but Abuelo's right next door is better IMHO (order one entree per 2 people, they are enormous)

Thanks for the tips guys. Hey, has any of you been to the cheaper than dirt shop? Is it a normal store front or more of a warehouse?
I figured I should probably as before I try to take an hour drive and be disappointed.

So I went to the gun show last weekend and tried to hit up both gun stores ctd and the other one in the area.

CTD is an actual store, all there stuff is along the walls and on shelves in the isles.

Some ammo prices were okay, othere were a bit nuts compared to say wally world.
No colt pistols which was odd, but a lot of black rifles.

The other store was not open on sunday.

The RR ar lowers were only about 30 bucks more than at the gun show, but I thought the gun show was a bit high this time too.
265 for complete with 6 position stock. 299 at ctd.
Just my little comparison shopping.
The had a springfield GI for 479, but I think based on the other post it was used.

Is CTD in Fort Worth or McKinney? If its in McKinney then ill get to go but if its in Fort Worth, ill have to go online

new store in mckinney.
just exit 380 and head west. turn in to the strip mall there to the north.

The other gun store is just across the highway. Heading east it is on the right.

Oh right, duh. Ok, after a google search I relized the company itself is in Fort Worth and the store is in McKinney
