How odd.....I was actually thinking of the old archived thread on this very subject.

Several companies are listed and I think what they charged too.

I would do it yourself.
It's an easy fix.

Not saying you can't do it but be careful. Sat in on a surgery to put epoxy in a guys head where his skull used to be. He was winding a spring when something happened and he lost an eye and a few square inches of skull. SS

Contact grayparatrooper.  He did for an AR15 member who was happy with his service.

It depends on the type of springs.  The springs on the side rails.  Then it is an easy fix.  Springs above the door.  Let the pro do it.  I would get both springs replaced while they are there.  If you don't then in a year or two they will be back.  Last time I had mine replace in Houston is was around $200 for both.

I just had both my springs replaced. No way I would do that myself. A good way to get hurt if you don't have experience. Cost me 200 also.

We found a 60 year old neighbor hanging by the springs when he tried to replace them.  150 stitches later, he called a door company.  Took them 15 minutes.  Some things while appearing simple are not.  This is not one of them.  Call a door company.

 Let the pro do it.
It looks simple, but it ain't.  BTDT...Almost have a big fucking scar to prove it.

Yea, I had one go about two years ago and thought about it for a few minutes, then called the pros. Cost me $80, took them MAYBE 30 minutes and looked easy as hell.....But when I think about all of the energy stored in that coil of steel.....I know I made the right decision.

I'd like to make a soft link to the current Legal Trust threads.  Seems we are having the same argument here.....

Good idea. That way the Fed Gov can take care of the medical bills you incur while trying to "do it yourself".

There are some messy YouTube videos of people that tried it if you need more encouragement to call a professional to have it done.

And even if you do know what you're doing... if u make a mistake.  Soemthing is going to shove itself deep into your skull, eye, or some other body part.  Or that door is going to jam, or slam.  I've doenit before and I'll never do it again.  Let the pro do it...he does it a 1000 times and gets lots of safe practice.
