I just got a renewal notice from Travis County to renew the sticker on my truck, but I'm moving to Ft. Bend County in about a month or so, so should I still renew in Travis County now and just worry about it next year? What will I need to do next year? Does the vehicle need to be registered in the county you actually live in? Should I just ignore this registration and go register at Ft. Bend Co? How would I go about doing that?
a lot of Qs i know... Thanks in advance guys:) |

i'm moving on july 31st and my sticker says 07 10. i already have a ft. bend co. address though. just moving back home from austin after 5 years of school. truck's in my name and i bought it here so i registered it here. If it were me, I would register with my new address online now. |

I would register it in Fort Bend County (that's where I am) just so you will get your renewal in the mail next year. Legally, it doesn't matter where it is registered as far as I know.
I found this web site https://rts.texasonline.state.tx.us/NASApp/txdotrts/AddressChangeServlet. It says you can change the mailing address online, but to change the vehicle owner's address you have to download/print/mail a form. If you aren't returning to your old address this may be the way to go. If you want to go in person here are the locations http://www.co.fort-bend.tx.us/ContactUs.asp?sitePage=5767&DepartmentID=21510&LastBreadCrumb=Contact%20Us |
