Well after 1.5 yr in a contract to hire a re-org just pushed me out the door after I was first on the list to hire. It doesn't get any better then this. In the Dallas area... If anyone knows of network, telecom / wireless what ever type technology jobs in this type of work let me know. Thanks |

Good luck looking for IT in the Dallas area. I have been looking for something perm for a while now myself. Every company I talk too, is low balling pay rates something terrible. I am a network engineer/telecom engineer myself. Been doing private consulting for small companies just to make ends meet.
Good luck all. If anyone finds any good leads that they are not interested in, please pass them along. Thanks |

Id rather shovel horse shyt than work in Irving. At 114 & 161. Doesn't necessarily mean that you would be working at that location. People out of work long enough won't really care where the location is. No I don't love Irving either. |

I should know, we just gave them a shitload of business. |
| These fields are saturated with workers right now ON TOP of companies making natural cut backs in these areas... IT has taken a big hit. I've given up, I'm trying to score local Warehouse work like I was doing right out of high school. I feel bad for you guys deeper into the career field than I am. I'm trying to come off of unemployment. People want to pay me $10 an hour for work I was doing at $16.50-20 for nearly 7 years. I was recently burnt off by a company in Plano into the 3rd interview and 2 weeks of waiting and testing and blah blah... because I asked for atleast $12 from the 10 even they offered. They sent me on my way and that was that. |

For all of y'all "engineers" out there, you might want to have a look at section 1001.002.(2) on page 8 of the Texas Engineering Practice Act and Rules.
Good luck with your job search. |

Thanks for all the feed back guys, well its nothing new here been through some BS had some nice jobs but hey as they say shit happens. Its just such a PITA going through the motions.
There have been steady calls all along but you know how it is. I was thinking of doing something else career wise but what else could I do that I would enjoy the work where I get to play with things and make things work.
A good friend is starting a cool video wireless business, it takes a while to get this off the ground, I will keep you guys out of work in mind as well when things pick up. I can certainly do a few things around the house, paint the trim, sand down my old car that I want to restore, play some ham radio.. Later. |

Is this a bad place to solicit folks for work? I've got various gigs that come up that I don't have time to work on.
Right now I could use a guy who knows wireless lan and a little about cable modem systems that can run a protocol analyzer. This would be all L2 and L3 work.. no routing protocols or fanciness.. just good ole fashion packet stuffing and figuring out what's wrong. you'll have to email me here or at gmail. jlukem. -Luke |

Not much of a horse fan here, but nonetheless, the subject term does seem to get misapplied all too often under the strictest interpretation of State Code, by which I am legally obligated.
Maybe 1001.061(b)(2) applies? I am very glad that there are most talented folks out there that keep the IT networks up and running.

I see what you are saying, and have to disagree 100%, as would/do the TBPE. I have applied to Network Engineer jobs in the past never has the TBPE cared. Network Engineer does not imply the offering of engineering services, or the licensing of said person in the position.
I will admit, when I first heard that term, I pulled up the same documentation you linked, because I didnt want to get the board pissed at me and give them a reason to deny my licensing. John: Could you send me either a resume, or at least a skill/experience list? I know of a position in Plano where my friend is considering a career change, and it might be up your alley, I will need to give him a call and see what his plans are, timeframe, etc. |

John, sorry it to hear this news! (Maybe a few drinks at our house next weekend will make you feel a tinyyyyy bit better!) Good luck to all of y'all who are looking for work right now! I'll keep you in my prayers! Thanks.. I am working that day until June 30th but may stop by just the same. John |

I got a reprieve !!! My boss called me Monday and said he could keep me on staff !! wooohoooo !!! He said I took care of many network items others never see or touch and he was happy to have gone the extra mile to keep me around. Now if I can just get that full time application approved that would be great. So I am okay for now, watch the job offers come in now that I am not being laid off June 30th. Thanks to all who tried to help me out and the well wishers. |
