This is not a overnight deal, but in the next year or so. Ill give some info on me and what im looking for and hopefully you guys can point me in the right direction.

Im 25, I want to start a family soon. I like having space around the house, I would like a nice chunk of land. I enjoy having a city near by (no more than an hour away). I want some good scenery and the ability to drive a short distance and leave all civilization behind. Water is a bonus.

I guess im picky.

Thanks in advance!

ETA- Im in NC right now but grew up in South Florida and was born in Arizona

your requirements (good chunk of property with water with nice scenery) sound very expensive, especially if you plan on moving near any big cities.  prepare to get raped by property tax.    unless if you can get an ag exemption.

Boerne, TX or New Braunfels, TX would be my picks that would meet your criteria, especially if you like to deer hunt and fish.  Goliad, TX is more remote, but also a nice town with nice land around it.

Tag.

I asked a similar question with similar requirements a few months ago, but didn't get any real solid suggestions. Instead, I got life advice even though I mentioned nothing about my personal life.

Good luck

You really need to state a price range.

In the Houston metro area, there are several places where you can get a 10 acre plot and home for 200-250K   Maybe cheaper depend on the home that's on the land.    This is 30-50 mins from down town Houston.     Farther out there is land starting at 3-5k an acre.

In any case more more information is needed.    Job skills, income, kids/schools ect.

I agree Boerne/Bulverde.  30 minutes to an hour north of San Antonio. You might also consider Hondo, it is west of SA.  I've lived in East and NE Texas, but the Central/southern region is easily my favorite.

a few questions first:

1. what's in the budget? how much do you have? how much to put down?

2. where do you plan to work?

3. how much of a commute can you tolerate?

4. are schools important?

5. do you have to be near any docs/hospitals?

stuff like this––let us know. Like the Cheshire Cat says in "Alice in Wonderland."

"...if you don't know where you're headed, any road will get you there!"

P.S.

Spent a lot of time up in Cherokee County, NC––great place––great fishing, hunting, and great people!
