| I found out today that the TSA does not recognize any CHL as official government issued ID. I find this very ironic! I guess a standard drivers license or passport gives them (TSA) the assurance that the person bearing the ID is law abiding and of good character!!! |

According to their website it is a valid form of ID. http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/acceptable_documents.shtm Effective June 21, 2008, adult passengers (18 and over) are required to show a U.S. federal or state-issued photo ID that contains the following: name, date of birth, gender, expiration date and a tamper-resistant feature in order to be allowed to go through the checkpoint and onto their flight. The Texas CHL has all those features, and is a state issued ID. |

Well the next time anyone is traveling by air try using your CHL ID card at the TSA check point....see how it works out for you. These are the first line of defense people we rely on to keep our airways safe? What a F'n joke! No wonder the US is such a target! |

Well tell that to the TSA turds at the DFW airport gate C30 check point. Have YOU tried YOUR CHL at the airport? Follow Up: I called the TSA office this morning and they stated that it should have been accepted as long as it meets the ID criteria as outlined on their web site. A senior cuostomer service manager is supposed to be calling me back as follow up. Let's see if this happens....more to follow. |

| Perhaps it's just me but they don't question a DL so I use that when I travel. The two things I conceal and do not show is my CHL and my military ID. The last thing I want at an airport is some assclown TSA person to accuse me of being some "gun nut" or having a weapon and that's why I am showing my CHL. Also it's really not a bad idea to travel, even in the US, as low key a possible. If I am on a plane and some nut job is there I want to be the "grey man" no one would suspect. Regarless if it's a stupid drunk, a crazy person or a commited terrorist. IMHO why use something like a CHL, just use a DL, or your passport if you carry it. |

Well actually I handed the TSA turd my CHL by mistake. You see, I recently received my NEW TX DL and it looks very similar to the CHL ID so I thought I handed him the DL. When they (TSA turd) informed me that it was not a valid form of ID I quetioned them. So the main TSA (DFW) Customer Service person just called me back with the explanation of why the TX CHL ID not a valid form of ID at any TEXAS airport. You will love this reason...apparently the Texas Dept. of Public Safety uses a contract agency to process and create the Texas CHL ID card. They are required to verify all information and perform the background check etc...What they don't do is verify the picture....you know the one you have to take and send in with your CHL paperwork...so the all TSA posts in Texas have deemed it as an invalid form of gov't issued ID and will not honor it. The picture on the TX DL is verified because they (DPS) are the ones that take the picture. And it get's better...as of this post I am sitting in the secure area of LAX waiting for my flight back home...guess what ID I used to pass through the TSA check point...my TX CHL...this time I did it on purpose to see if it would work. Go figure...like the poster above stated...Garbage In = Garbage Out (TSA employees)! |

That's a BS reason because the passport photos you send in have to be signed by the LEO or certified person (FASST) who takes your fingerprints. Oh... and if that were reason to reject a TX CHL, then they should reject a US passport since passport photos are also supplied by the applicant. But as we all know, most TSA rules are worthless and the whole system is designed to make sheeple feel good that "something is being done", even though the whole system is flawed to the point of being useless. |

I did some contract work for TSA in 2008. their logic often made no sense. like it makes no sense here. I can assure you the TSA went to no stretch to learn the process whereby a CHL is obtained or processed.
as I am flying internationally I do not bring any gun permits as they are not only invalid but raise unwarranted attention. in some countries the distinct US Passport is something many seasoned traveler hide with a leather passport cover so as to keep a more discreet profile. but yes in this case the TSA makes no sense. |

Whoever comes up with the TSA regulations is a certifiable idot. In August, the mrs and I went to AR to visit her brother. We flew into Tulsa and rented a car. On the way back, we stopped at a convenience store to stock up on snacks, etc for the flight back. Went through the security screening and they confiscated my unopened 20 oz. bottle of Coke 0 and threw it in the trash. I forgot about their stupid rules on liquids. And here is what pisses me off, if my Coke 0 was too dangerous to take onboard the aircraft, why did you simply throw it in the trash? Shouldn't the bomb squad or the hazmat team be called out? If my Coke 0 is a bomb, it's going to explode anyway, so shouldn't it have been immediately removed and taken to the bomb range for disposal? The TSA needs to choke on a Nigerian goat's dick. |
