The NWS is mentioning RAIN for the first time in months as a real possibility. I hate to get excited about it, but just the idea makes me giddy...

A WELCOMED CHANGE IN THE WEATHER PATTERN IS UNDERWAY AND WILL
ULTIMATELY RESULT IN NEAR NORMAL HIGHS AND BETTER CHANCES FOR
WETTING RAINS. THE UPPER HIGH CURRENTLY OVER NORTHERN MEXICO AND
WEST TEXAS IS FORECAST TO SHIFT NORTH AND WEST...ALLOWING A
NORTHERLY FLOW TO DEVELOP OVER THE SOUTHERN PLAINS AND EVENTUALLY
REACH DOWN INTO OUR AREA. A WEAK COLD (DRY) FRONT IS FORECAST TO
MOVE SOUTH INTO CENTRAL TEXAS ON FRIDAY. CONVECTION THAT TRIGGERS
ON THIS BOUNDARY WILL MOVE SOUTH AND EAST INTO OUR AREA AND MAY BE
INVIGORATED BY THE SEABREEZE GOING INTO FRIDAY EVENING. BOTH THE
00Z GFS AND ECMWF SHOW ANOTHER TROPICAL CYCLONE DEVELOPING IN THE
EASTERN PACIFIC NEXT WEEK AND FOLLOWING A SIMILAR PATH TO IGNACIO.
THE MEDIUM RANGE MODEL SOLUTIONS SHOW A SURGE OF DEEP TROPICAL
MOISTURE NORTH INTO SOUTH TEXAS AT THE SAME TIME. WILL PLAY
PRECIPITATION CHANCES CONSERVATIVELY FOR DAYS 6-7 GIVEN THE
ONGOING DROUGHT AND THE STUBBORN UPPER HIGH...BUT THE PROJECTED
PATTERN IS FAVORABLE FOR WIDESPREAD WETTING RAINS.

I'd almost guarantee that it will rain like anything next week in the northern part of DFW.

I've got the pager all next week and without fail, every time I have the duty it rains like anything.

Makes for a nice fat OT check however.

It is never going to rain again. Or so it seems.

I hope a mild hurricane parks in the Gulf and rains on us for days. Just not all at once or we will flood.

Mother nature is a cock tease.  Yesterday evening it got dark, rumbled, sprinkled, and I started thinking that we'd actually get some moisture...  No luck, though.

The neighbor's well has already run dry...  and their's is deeper than ours

Yes, that was nice...  Now if it would do that every day for the next couple of months maybe we could get out of this drought!

Don't point fingers at us...  You get north of Waco and everything is green...  they've had plenty of rain up there.  They just won't share.

Looks like you were right:

THE MEDIUM RANGE MODEL SOLUTIONS ARE TRENDING AWAY FROM WHAT
LOOKED TO BE A RAIN-FAVORABLE PATTERN DEVELOPING NEXT WEEK. THE
00Z GFS AND ECMWF KEEP OUR AREA ON THE PERIPHERY OF THE UPPER
HIGH...WHICH WOULD ALLOW FOR SOME MOISTURE CREEP INTO OUR AREA AND
SOME DAYTIME HEATING (OR SEABREEZE)-TRIGGERED CONVECTION...BUT
NOTHING LIKE THE TROPICAL SURGE OF MOISTURE THAT WAS ADVERTISED IN
EARLIER MODEL RUNS. THE 00Z GFSMOS MAX TEMPS FOR NEXT WEEK LOOK
WAY TOO LOW GIVEN PROJECTED 500MB PRESSURE HEIGHTS AND RECENT
OBSERVED TEMPS. OUR MAX TEMP NUMBERS WILL BE UP TO 6 DEGREES ABOVE
00Z GFSMOS FOR NEXT WEEK...BUT STILL SHOW A TREND DOWN CLOSER TO
NORMAL.

This sucks.

Ft Worth had about a drop or two of rain.  You're lucky, Zhukini, or I would fire your butt.
