Well guys and gals, I have a question that the Texas-Jr. Hive may be able to answer.

As some of you know (thanks to the self-centered thread: "I'm moving to Texas"), I am a new resident of this great state by the way of Colorado.

I would like to apply for my Texas (Resident) permit since my Colorado CHP has been returned to the county that issued my permit.   However, I noticed that they have a clause stating you must be a resident of this state for 6mo.   Is there anyway of getting a waiver for that requirement if you were just recently a CHP holder from another state?

Thanks in advance, I really appreciate it.

6 months will be up before you get good and settled in.

Just take the class and wait the remaining time before sending in your app.

I think you can start right away, no need to wait 6 months.

You do not have to be a resident for six months.  Any resident of any state can get a Texas CHL.

Texas Government Code
Sec. 411.172.  ELIGIBILITY.  (a)  A person is eligible for a license to carry a concealed handgun if the person:

(1)  is a legal resident of this state for the six-month period preceding the date of application under this subchapter or is otherwise eligible for a license under Section 411.173(a);

Sec. 411.173.  NONRESIDENT LICENSE.  (a)  The department by rule shall establish a procedure for a person who meets the eligibility requirements of this subchapter other than the residency requirement established by Section 411.172(a)(1) to obtain a license under this subchapter if the person is a legal resident of another state or if the person relocates to this state with the intent to establish residency in this state.

Take a class and knock yourself out!

Welcome to Texas.  You will love it here especially the feral hog hunting.
