| According to Texas State Law, (Section 46.02) we can only carry blades up to 5.5 inches. I would assume all of us carry a couple of folders for every day carry, but who carries a fixed blade? If so, what is it? Also, have you ever been harassed by LE about it? |

I carried a CRKT ABC, don't have any pics of it at work, I lost the belt clip :( I just ordered a Ka-Bar TDI knife to replace it. I have a CRKT that I got from TAPCO. The three screws for the belt clip kept loosening up and finally I lost all but one screw. They have loctite on them but I guess it doesn't help. They also use a very small torx style head which I had a hard time tightening. I wonder if there is a fix for this problem? |

I sometimes carry my hunting knife in its leather sheath on my right hip in plain view. I've only had one cop give me a double look, but he just stayed where he was standing with his arms crossed and looked elsewhere.
My friend carries his hunting knife that he made himself and hasn't had any problems. His is truly "every day". He's also a Volunteer fireman so he's in with the " good ol' boys". |

Its been 10 yrs or so, but my uncle used to carry a hunting style knife every day but Sunday at church. He was never given any grief. I also used to carry one when I was with him running around or riding horses. Never thought about it but I cant believe a cop never said anything to me. Being 11-14 and having a 5" fixed blade knife on my belt. |

They are VERY GOOD at sending parts and will be happy to help you. |

They sent me 3 new screws and a little torx wrench but the screws didnt fit the knife handle. Kinda sucked. I got rid of that knife and got a spyderco wave. Im much happier with my new knife anyway. |

soldier.... to answer your question... i have seen a bunch of people carry a fixed blade.. and most of them are "good guys"...
fixed blades are not folders, fan knife and sometimes can be described similarly to a "steak knife" thats a fixed blade. many many moons ago before i became a police officer, while i was attending a class to become a "safety officer" in IDPA, the instructor (i cant remember his name, he drove a BM'er bike).. anyways... he was carrying on his belt in a holster/scabbard a fixed blade. i hurried home and check the Tx Penal Code and it was perfectly legal. be prepared though, not all Police Officers carry a measuring stick or ruler... and laws vary from state to state... goodluck! |
