My wife has been very anti-gun for many years.  She has tolerated my hobby since before we were married.  But lately she has become receptive to learning how to shoot.  I would like to stay married, so I will not be the one to teach her.

Can anyone recommend someone to give some basic instruction to us?  She has never even shot a gun, so I think it would be better for the two of us to get the instruction together privately as opposed to a group setting.

Thank you.

Tiger Valley, www.tigervalley.com, has ladies only classes at the Elm Fork range in West Dallas.

The web site has a schedule and info on the class.

If she has never even handled a firearm before I would say go with a NRA Basic course.

It will give the in's and outs of safety, how ammunition works, types of firearms, care and maintenance to firing her first shots.

TJ's Ladies only class is designed for exactly this situation.  Someone who knows nothing or just a little bit.  He does not allow the husbands to be around, because we of course try and help them out with things like loading mags.  He teaches things like shooting from a purse and what type of gun works best for them.

The quickest way to an argument is by trying to teach your wife to shoot a gun.  Even TJ will tell you that.

Airone,

I have been married long enough to know that you are exactly right!

I will give TJ a call.

Thanks.
