Im moving down to Texas in 3 weeks to Laughlin AFB in Del Rio.  Does anyone have any info on ranges or places to shoot in the area.  Also what are some interesting sites to see around there all Ive really heard about is the Big Bend area has some really nice camping.

Check out Seminole Canyon and Lake Amistad. I couldn't tell you about any shooting ranges. I remember there was one when I was growing up but we didn't go very often. Don't stay there longer than you have to.

I wont be there anymore than a year and a half.  Im going for pilot training so it wont be as long as a normal tour.  Im not expecting too much, I grew up in a town of 25,000 in NC so Im used to the whole small town deal.

Enjoy the fall and winter.  Because by late April, it is a hell hole.

Contact Napolean_Tanerite for more info on ranges and the like, he too was stationed there for his training.

Canoe or Kayak up the Pecos from the high bridge on 90. (just past Seminole)
Beautiful solitude .... we own 300 acres 120 NW of there and LOVE it. We take
every weapon we own to our property. The Pecos is state land so we don't take guns there.

Nothing to do with small town. Everything to do with filthy shithole border town. There's a lot of outdoors stuff to do at the Lake and further out west. Plenty of hunting if you like that. Seminole Canyon has quite a few Indian caves and such.

Make sure you get across the border to Acuna and visit Ma Crosby's.  They have the best margaritas anywhere!

Hellfire!  Is that joint still there?  I haven't been since 1990 or so.  I'd love to go back down there again!

Make sure to visit the Corona Club in Acuna too.

El Mariachi and Desperado had some scenes filmed there.  A photo of Cheech with his head blown off is right by the bar hah.

Hell yes it's still there.  I have a photo of my grandfather standing in front of Crosby's in the 1920's and I was just there last year.
