Looking for an upcoming shoot that isn't too far from DFW.  I would like it to be an overnight and .50BMG friendly.  Also, night time, guns away, drinking required.

So what's out there?

No drinking, unfortunately, and overnight would be at a close by RV park or motel.  No fifties either.

To expand on the drinking thing... last time there was an after party about 15 minutes away at one of our member's ranches.   I have not heard if that's going to happen again or not.

WTF! No .50 cals? Doesn't state that in the post promoting the shoot!

Shouldn't.  The club used to allow it and then they noticed the high rounds hitting the tops of the trees heading straight towards downton Longview.   The club has nothing against fifties, they just don't like the idea of range of a fifty being well into downtown.  It's not an anti gun thing, it's a safety range limitation thing.  One bad round means the closing of our range that has basically no other restrictions.   They are pro-machinegun, DD's or antything else, they just don't want anything with the ability to shoot into downtown.   I don't like the rule, but I understand it.   We shoot golf ball cannons, 37mm DD's (yes, there is such a thing and it's mine) as well as 40mm dd's but they don't have the range to shoot into downtown.

TJ/TV is great! A buddy has a Soundtech can that fits my .50 perfect and we were planning to get it metered at the shoot. The shoot info stated nothing about .50 restrictions. Thanks for the links though!

We host FCSA Matches twice a year.  Fifty caliber shooters are welcome, just as all other shooter who are safe and know the dope on the weapon.  Shooting starts at the 200 yard line so no one should have any trouble keeping impacts in the target boards which are six foot square.  Bret is running the line Saturday, I will be tied up teaching a rifle class off site this weekend.  I need a break from Waco, just spent 20 days teaching a DDM class.  Have fun guys and be safe.

There are lots of calibers/cartridges that have the same or greater range as a 50BMG. Are they banned too? Or is it one of those things were one just shows up and  keeps their ballistic knowledge to themselves?

Mike, you have been there before and you know the range allows anything but 50bmg.

Are you going to make it?  You should have been at the September shoot, it was absolutely great.

I was asking that question as a benefit to the community.

Yes, I will be there. I was packed and 10 mins from house in Sept when I got horribly sick and turned back.

Well this time you need to make sure you don't get sick!   We had no less than 40 folks last time and had many belt feds, silencers, post samples, and of course many many transferables.   1928a1 did an excellent job of unofficial testing as he will again this time and Al Paulson is supposed to be there.  Heck, Kel from Gemtech showed up and gave out t-shirts.  I wish he would make it again because My t-shirt got a stain on it because I wore it too much .

Be sure and bring your favorite subgun, you should shoot the match.  It's very laid back and mostly for fun.  If I can get away from the smoker, I'm going to give it a try even though I've never shot a match.   I just took pictures last time but both my machineguns broke right off the bat .    My M11 wouldn't run and my firing pin broke on the Ruger.   I will have extra parts this time
