Will be going to Houston next week for business. Might have an afternoon or night with a little free time, was looking for a recommendation for lunch or dinner. Looking for some place that Houston is "known" for, like a great barbecue or mexican restaurant. Thanks. |
| There are some newer places around the ballpark, but they are a bit pricy. Also, downtown, bayou place area has some restaurants. Within a few miles there are some BBQ places(610 and I-45, at the old mall), but if you can expand your range to about 5-7 miles go to 59 & Kirby area. |

45 and 59 area, I would go to Thelma's BBQ. It's a hole in the wall just outside of downtown but it's possibly the best BBQ in Houston. Been to other places like Goode Company, Demaris, and Pappas, this place beats them hands down. It's in a not so good part of town, and it's in a shack. I always go during lunch time. For some Mexican, Chuy's on Westhimer and Kirby is usually pretty good. It's more Tex-Mex then regular Mexican food. |
If you do Chuy's, make sure that you ask for the ranch sauce with your chips. I don't know if it is listed on the menu, but it is really good. Also, leave your fake id at home, they will call the cops. |
