Do you guys think that Dallas could handle a range with Moving targets, reactionary steel, covered shooting, and no range Nazi.  Maybe a pro-shop and ranges open into the evenings during the week?

I can't let the cat out of the bag just yet, but I have been approached and gave my ideas, which are not your ordinary paper punching range.  The reason I was approached was because they say what we do at Tiger Valley and were interested in the concept.  I will say that I think there is a very good chance of this happening.  When it happens you guys will be the first to know.

Hell yes!  This type of range has been a long time coming in the Dallas area.  I just hope they don't choose a site that will be in the path of the future G. Bush extension.

Good news on that.....not for general public consumption though.  The air quality in DFW is so bad, and the fact that we are a "non-attainment" area, no new roads may be constructed and there will be severe limits on the maintenance and repair of existing roads.

The beatings will continue shortly.

 Yeah...That's it.  That's the ticket.

The use to be an indoor range in Houston near the airport and HPD academy. This range had a video "game" system that you used real weapons to shoot at projected filmed scenes and the computer would determine hits and a score. I know myself and 2 other friends burned up 3K rounds on that range one day using our subguns. It was damned fun and what a money maker for the range since the ammo consumption was high. Just us having fun doing it caused a line of other people wanting to rent the range and do it themselves. The did not advertise it so they did not really even know what they had as a money maker until one da when we showed up. Unfortunately the range was taken over by HPD and shut down to the public. I know that there are even better systems these days and any smart range owner would invest in one and a large quantity of ammo on hand to sell.

Good luck on your new venture. I really think you need to do one in Houston too

TJ, are you inquiring whether the shooters in DFW want such a range (you already have your answer), or whether the municipality and the powers-that-be could handle it?  Depending upon location, then the answer to the second question might not be positive.

I don't see how the area can't handle the business, with ranges closing due to all the problems.  If this works out I think it will be the best range in the area for the type of shooting this group likes.  Like all ranges, safety concerns govern lots of issues.  It's hard to have a range in a city that you can do all the fantasy shooting you can outside the city.  Doing a prone out drill at Tiger Valley in Waco is no big deal, we have 3000 feet of impact area.  But that being said, fun can still be had within limits.

Just take over the old reserve base in Grand Prairie! A little more lead won't hurt the area, and it's close to Dallas and Fort Worth. Not too far away, DPD already has their range so the area is already somewhat used for shooting now.

You already got the airstrip. Build it there and military/LEO's can land their black helicopters. Some of the buildings could be renovated.

Open the rest of the base to manufacturers, and then call all of them in Ill. and tell them to come on down to a free state.

They used to have the same setup at the DFW Gun Range, and for all I know, still do (I haven't shot there in years). It was a great experience, and was made all the more exhilirating by the fact that I took a couple of customers at the time, then put the whole deal on my expense account. My anti-gun boss loved that.
