We are a little over a month out.  Who is definitely coming, no questions, will be there, no matter what?

Who is training?

I will start the list:

1.  LawDog101

What say you?

Booked hotel reservations last night online.  Should be mailing out check to TigerValley tomorrow morning if I can find my checkbook.

Training has been lack luster.  Hitting the gym about twice a week, but not seeing much results

Need to hit the gym & the range this weekend!

I'm in.  I pd online over 2 weeks ago.  Want to be one of the first ones out, but my payment is jammed up in their system as TJ was talking about.

Rolled my ankle real bad 4 weeks ago, but have been training through that.  Lost 14 pounds now and am down to 168.  I'm excited to do it this year.  I think I have acquired everything I want for my BOB, so I am ahead of schedule on that.  I hope to do well and I look forward to meeting the group.

I talked to TJ on Friday as my payment is caught in the system, but I paid over 2 weeks ago online and he told me I would be number 7 or 8 to go out that morning.  Not sure who all paid before me, but that was more than I would have thought.

I hiked 11 miles today with a 34 lb pack.  If anyone wants to get together and do some long distances, I have a really good place barely north of Denton, Just can't carry the rifles.

Let me know and we can set something up for a weekend.  I should be free this coming Saturday.  Have a skeet shoot on Sunday, and next weekend is opening day for Dove season.  I am also free most any weeknight if anyone was interested.

If you are talking about the green belt I would be interested in going with you.  I am still trying to see if I will have the funds to go.  I should know after this weekend howevr if I can go or not.

Just let me know when you might want to go and we can work something out.  It's not as good as the grasslands, but it at least somewhere to get out and make you do some kind of distance.  (And it is super close for me)

Is the drill open to spectators?

I wont be able to compete this year more than likely, but any help needed at stations or anything? If needed, I can bring the 4-wheeler to go get people if they need a ride back out or anything.

Yes the drill is open to watch, and we can always use extra hands.  Man you are going to miss a good one.  I bet we do some things some people have never done at this one.

I was wanting to participate, but didnt get to training like i should have been..Dont have a pack put together, and with my work schedule wasnt sure if I would be able to make it. I have to travel quite a bit as of late.

ETA: What is the date of the drill?

My staus right now is questionable. I've been dealing with an Achilles tendon problem all summer that has gotten progressively worse. This past weekend I was supposed to meet up with pick713 and had to cancel at the last minute. Right now, it's been more than three weeks since I've been on a good walk, since the last one (at just six miles) left my ankle swollen for a couple of days. I iced it immediately after I finished, but it's just not responding.

I hope to see our family doctor before the week is out and hopefully he can refer me to a a specialist (because of insurance, I can't see one without a referral). Maybe with a cortisone shot I'll be good to go, but I'm probably 50/50 at best right now.

Last year I didn't train much either. I still learned a whole lot! Besides, most everyone didn't even finish last year. If I remember correctly, 4 of 27 finished.

If you're not working, get your butt there & do it. You still have plenty of time to but together a BOB.

The date of the drill is Saturday, Sept. 29.

hbruns in right, most didn't make the whole event but had a blast doing it.  All your gear should be stuff you already have on hand.  Stuff it in a bag and you will be ready.

I agree.  In a true bugout, you would have to take him along if he was with you.   It would be very interesting to watch.  Maybe you only have to take him along part way, as if you dropped him off at a neighbors house along the way.  We wouldn't want him getting sick out there with us when it wasn't his chouice in the first place.  There are all kinds of ways to spin that.  Number 1 being his safety though.    I am just kidding though.

If anyone does not have a Camelbak or some kind of bladder for holding water,  Check out Walmarts Camping section.  They have some in expensive bladders that you can drop into your backpack.  It is so much easier than carrying bottles.

I am working on the weekend schedule, to see if I can go on Sunday.

Love the Evian water.  You friends with Airone?

As to the Wal Mart bladders, I have one and it leaks.  I do not know if I would trust it for a hike of this nature.  Academy has Camelback replacement parts.  I would look there to get a more durable bladder.

I got a 100 oz bladder at Sports Athority for 24$  It was the wide mouth, fits great in my ruck.

MOS2111, don't tell Lawdog, but I switched to Fiji water.  Much better and more expensive than Evian.

He's just sore that his bladder leaked...In is ruck no less....

Like I always say "never fear the leaky rear"

Ok, so who is up for this weekend?  I have to go on Saturday?  I need to get it finalized with those that are sure.  Otherwise, I will go ride MX instead.

Let me know.

I can only make Sunday again.  If you have to go on Saturday, then I will have to catch the next one and do my own here at the greenbelt on Sunday.

I went for a long hike yesterday. About half way through it poured rain and I had to squat in a safe area for hours until the lightning passed. That was even after I ran out of SmartWater. Don't worry, I'm ok, but the AR got a little rusty.
8/30/2007 1:03:44 PM EDT

You should get rid of that AR and get you a AK.

I hear they are not affected by leaky rears...

Saturday is the opening day of Dove season and I am pretty sure they allow bird hunting out there at the grasslands.
