I saw at a gun show, a guy was making custom ear plugs with some kind of silicone or dense liquid foam. Where can I get the stuff to do it myself??

Damn.  I just saw that stuff tonight while surfing for, of all things, binoculars.  Just searched for them again and couldn't find them.  If I do, I'll edit this post.

Cabelas sells them too.

BTW I have a set that might have been made by the guy you saw at the gun show.  Company name is dB Specialties and they are in Plano.  His name is Chuck Dade.

I've been using them for over 10 years now.  If the DIY kit works like these then it is great.  The ones I have are very comfortable even for long periods of time.  I use them while mowing which sometimes takes 8 hours.

+1 on  dB Specialties. I have had mine almost as long as you have abd they are well worth the price.

Howdy Y'all,
I just read a story on warrifles.com (my second favorite website to ar15.com) that said there is a bone that is not protected with these general types of plugs, and that your ears are not fully protected without using a full cup over the ear type of protection. Of course im no doctor, just a typical geek who reads too much, but I have switched back to muffs now.

Just my $0.02

Usually at the major IDPA and IPSC matches (state level and up) there is a vendor making these on the spot.
