Ok guys I need some help.  The 9N tractor that has served Tiger Valley so well for the last 3 years has crapped out on me.  I was making a left hand turn using the left brake when I heard a loud bang.  I wouldn't come out of gear at that point.

I got the brain storm to take a look at it myself.  I split the back half of the tractor from the transmission.  Nothing was visable when you looked into the transmission or in the back half by the PTO.  Needless to say I waisted 8 hours for nothing.  Anyone know any body who work s on these old tractors.  They seem very simple, unfortunately I'm a little more simple then the tractor because I can't figure out what the heck is wrong with it.  I have the 90 HP massey, but with the 8 foot shredder it is a bitch to turn around in the bays and it destroys the crown on the firing positions.  Let me know if you know anyone who won't rape me in the repairs.  T.J.

There is a tractor mechanic in Randolph, in Fannin county.  I will see if I can find a name and phone number for you.  I've never done business with him but I hear he is honest and reliable.

If you can't find a listing for him and you don't hear from me in a day or so then email a reminder to me.

Sounds like you might have broken the left axle.  The problem is going to be finding all the parts.

Ok, obviously you didn't get the memo.  Ford 9N brakes aren't for actual use.  Hence why they almost always leak gear oil from the axle seals into the brakes.  Anyway, my Grandpa has spent probably the last 5 decades working on these things and knows them inside and out.  Probably better than anyone else in the state of Texas.  He's in Georgetown but if you are interested, shoot me an IM and I'll get you his phone number.

Really?  I am 7 miles from Randolph.  Is that the place cross 11 and 121 with couple of red tractors outside?

Man, I would love to have the contact info for your grandfather!  I also live in Georgetown, and I have a 1959 Ford 661 (the follow-on to the 9N).  I don't need anything, but it would be great to have a contact in case something goes wrong (I bought it off Ebay a couple of years ago from a guy in Waxahatchie that restores old tractors - it's in mint condition, just a little dirty from use)
