Tiger Valley is having a one day shotgun class on 9/15/2007. If you have a shotgun and you ever plan on using it then I recommend taking this class. If you think that the shotgun is simply a "point and click weapon", then I can tell you from experience that it is not. I got a big education on employing a shotgun when I took the combat arms course at TV last year and since I use a shotgun for home defense I want more training with it.

I hope TJ doesn't mind me spreading the word about one of his classes, but I'm sending in my check today and I don't want the class to get canceled because I'm the only one signed up.

I wouldn't mind trying that out, I'm off that day and my 870P would love the action.

Isn't that the same weekend the Black Rifle Convention is scheduled for?

How good is TJ, the instructor?

Has he ever hurt anyone's feelings?

I don't think a firearms instructor has much "street cred" unless he's hurt somebody's feelings at least once!

He didn't hurt my feelings, and I'm very sensative.

ETA - in answer to Mojo's question, TJ is an awesome instructor. His knowledge comes from experience and the training that he has received as a SWAT officer, police range officer and narcotics officer. TJ has pelnty of real world experience.

I've taken this course. I was suprised how much I improved in 8 hours. I you use a shotgun for home defense or 3-gun, I highly recommend it, especially if you use a pump.

BTW, TJ is very impressive with a pump shotgun. His shotgun demonstration during one of the handgun courses is what caused me to sign up for the shotgun course.

 Now, everyone knows TJ's credentials.
I ask the question because I want someone to list TJ's credentials.
FWIW, I took several classes from TJ and have always learned a lot in his classes.  Actually, I like his Handgun class more than I like Clint Smith's Handgun class, and you guys all know Clint's reputation.

These are the firearms related classes, they don't take into account the 6000 hours of inhouse firearms training.

TJ...I'm just little sarcastic with the "credential" thing.  Your resume is well-known to us regular.

+1 I was there also. there is a lot more to shotgunning than dove hunting.

it is an OUTSTANDING course. I was highly impressed both with TJ's ability, and his teaching style. He is not only a cool guy, he is a great 'teacher'. not in the sense that it usually means, but he is a GREAT facilitator of learning.
