Hello shooters, I am new to this game and I would like to see if I may get some info on a certain rifle. The SSR-99p. I live in Houston and well here , I still haven't been able to just walk in a pawn shop and find a good AK. Also every time I go to a gun show , I don't seem to find an AK I like. The only AK I have found and that I liked was the SSR-99P. Before I jump on it , I would  like to get some feed back from owners of that rifle. This rifle is pricey so I want to know if its really worth it or if I should just buy a cheaper WASR rifle . Thanks

Very good rifle.  Originally, made from Arsenal USA in Houston.

Nice rifles. Overpriced IMO (of course, that depends on what price you are looking at).

I used to have one and it was the most beautiful POS I have ever owned.
This is the model with the gas block cutoff switch for the grenade launcher.
While attempting to zero it at 50 yds. POI was a foot left with windage adjustment maxed out.
This was not my first rifle from these people with similar problems, I also had an SSR56 that would fail to feed consistently with any mag that was used.

The WASR is probably OK but I just don't have any experience with the Romainian rifles.
They used to have a reputation for having issues such as canted sight bases and gas blocks.
Personally I would skip the WASR and recommend an Arsenal of Las Vegas SA-M7 series rifle with the milled receiver. Probably priced similar to the 99P.
Locally you can get one from Jim Pruetts or Collectors Firearms, both overpriced but at least you can inspect before you buy.
Arsenal (of Las Vegas) also has stamped 5.56 models available with a side folding stock.
