I got hit by a miller light restock truck on the interstate. My truck is pretty much totaled I would think. This happened yesterday afternoon. I want a good attorney to represent my interests in this as there were 4 other cars involved/damaged. This happened in Dallas. I live in Longview. So anywhere in between is fine as well. Who recommendes who? Another ARFCOMER was on board but seems fine. What a monday.

Jim Adler's firm is a joke. A bad joke. If the court is in the DFW area, his firm will hire the cheapest attorney they can find to represent you...then hope a settlement can be reached before it goes to court. Alder's firm is bad enough that when the City of Dallas finds that his firm is representing someone suing the city, they won't settle and try to get into a court quickly. 60% of the time they drop the suit, a large precentage of the remaining cases they lose. BTW, this appears to be close to the average for all the TV law firms for cases I know about. I've had a few friends hire Alder's firm too....usually gets settled out of court about 2-3 years later for a fraction of what they could have gotten if they pressed the defendant to go to court...minus the 25-30% for fees. mm |
What about "The Strong Arm?" |
They all seem to hire the same guy from Mesquite that may or may not make it to the courtroom. At least the firms based in the Houston area. The Dallas based firms, they also seem to hire or contract someone to take the case and rarely if ever do they send someone that actually is an employee of works for the firm. mm ETA: Loncar is from Dallas, I suspect they contract it out like the other firms do. Uh, would you hire an amateur thespian? |

Ahh, good old Jim Adler "the Texas Hamster" as everyone in the legal community calls him. Im not sure that he even exists anymore, as no one i know has actually seen him in a while. I think he usually just has his firm handle all his business for him. Of course i guess its that way with all large companies like that now-a-days. |

Did the truck driver that hit you have a driver's license, insurance, and speak English? Yes? Then don't feel so bad. I had one of those "immigrants" hit me while he was driving his friends truck, and had none of the above documents to show. He caused me $5,400 on my $5,800 truck. I pleaded with Allstate not to total my 1994 truck with only 44,500 miles on it. I was lucky that they were kind enough to oblige. Of course they sent me notes in the mail some weeks later to inform me that they could not collect restitution from him for the damages caused. Damn lucky you don't get hit by one of these "immigrants" that Bush and the rest of the gutless Republicans excuse. By the way. The woman cop made the report, while ttreating him with the utmost politeness, and then let him go. If it was me driving without a license or insurance and I caused an accident, you know they would of handcuffed me!!...and had me posting bail. But the Houston Police chief's have instructed their cops not to make waves with these bastards. |
I worked for Jim Adler i Dallas. I took cases to trial and won. mm38 is somewhat ignorant of how personal injury law works. In fact, based on mm38's above post, My guess is that mm38 is simply IGNORANT of anything involving personal injury law in general. I would expound upon my statments, but I have a mediation to go to. I would be happy to explain how the personal injury system works and what you can do to maximize your claim. I will also be happy to tell you what the general jury award i the Dallas/Tarrant county area is for personal inury car wreck claims. There is a reason that most firms fdo not take many cases to trial and there is a reason that most insurance companies offer pennies for pain and suffering in both the Dallas and Houston areas. |

I used to work on the plaintiff's side and I now do defense work. Adler's office has some attorneys that will take a case to the jury. They refer other cases out to attorneys in the local area. My thougths, for what they are worth: 1. If you are injured, go to your family doctor and have him refer you to physical threapy if needed. 2. Your health insurance will pay 3. DO NOT go to a chiropractor. That kills the value of your cliam. 4. If you do not have health insurance, use the PIP that your auto policy has. 5. If you have no insurance, then you will need to go to apersonal injury attorney and find a doctor that will work under a letter of proteciton "LOP". 6. Is your truck totalled? If it is, the other side doesn't owe you a rental car. 7. If your truck isn't totalled, you are entitled to rent a similar vehicle. The insurance company will try to stick you with a econo-box. Your choice if you want to fight or accept it. 8. Do not give a records statement, I repeat, do not give a recorded statment, it will only be used to screw you in a deposition. 9. Dallas County and Tarrant county are notoriously conservative: i.e. they favor the defendants and the normal jury award for pain and suffering is only a couple of thousand over the medical bills. Don't expect a Dallas county or Tarrant county jury to place a large value on a sore neck and back on a normal day. That said, there are instances where they award a huge figure, but those instances are few and far between. 10. If you go with one of the advertising firms, expect itto come up in front of the jury. i.e. adler, loncar, ferreer, Kraft and associates and whatever others are up there 11. If your attorney sends you to a doctor, that will probably come out also and be used against you to devalue your claim. I may think of some other issues for you, but this is some food for thought. |
a friend of mine works for Brian Loncar "The Strong Arm" his name is Bill Hymes. He is located in Dallas. FireBlade |
