I just thought you guys might like to see a shotgun reload. This isn't the fastest, and there are many ways to accomplish this. This reload was done from upright carriers. Speed might be gained by reloading from another area. Most 3-gunners are going to kick my butt on this drill. Shotgun - Combat Reload |
No fair throwing in the Benny Hill video. Benny can kick just about everyone else's butt with any firearm. mm |
| It would except the only readily available magazine fed shotgun is the Saiga and 8 round mags are $100 apiece or more. Of course there are promises-always promises, that that may change. Plus the reload drill isn't as easy as you might think-no bolt hold open on a Saiga and if you are using 8 rounders the mag is a bitch to seat when fully loaded with the bolt closed. Plus switching buck and slug ain't so easy with a Saiga and without a mag....it's a piss poor single shot. Been down this road. |
The first video was TJ demonstrating a combat reload. The main idea is to keep the weapon up and ready and on target or scanning for targets while dropping a round in the chamber. Keep the weapon on target and get it back into action as fast as possible, even if it means only a single round in the chamber. The second and third videos were from the CavArms 3-gun match. Box magazines did not have much if any speed advantage in reloading, and they usually have a lower capacity than normal tubular magazines. Only the tubular speed loaders seemed to be quicker. Benny did smoke everyone else with the shotgun. mm |

It's a drill much like the lock slide reloads with a pistol, the worst-case situation. Unfortunately worst case situations do occur, especially with a shotgun because of ammunition constraints. I don't think I've ever talked to anyone who has been in a gunfight that could tell you exactly how many rounds they just fired. Most don't know until they hear the dreaded "click". This is one of the 10 or so drills that we use in the shotgun class. I thought I would post it since we see so many different styles of reloads. Thought it might provoke some thought. |
i think those were both pathetic. Take the gun out of your shoulder and your eyes off the threat? Cover is just a prop? Extend the muzzle over the cover? Maybe a half ass glance up at the threat. This is why I think games are wrong. Well they are just games and not life saving techniques. ----------------------------- had a chance to play with the "over and under" loading technique and i have to say i am impressed. much obliged to you MR. MADUCE. |

HK940 you are right that what Benny is doing is not tactical, but it was a match and money is on the table. When you set those lines in the sand, it becomes a race for a lot of things, tactics not being one of them. Benny Hill is a very knowledgeable shooter. But when faced with racing against everyone else playing a game he is going to win when he can. I'm sure, as I stated, that he could smoke my ass on this same drill. 1.6 seconds for two shots with a reload is slow for these guys. Hope you picked something up, I learned it from John Shaw, one of the best. |
| Not one wise crack about the technical with the .50 in the background, you guys are slipping. My son got the truck for $50.00 and we painted it camo. The spray paint was half the cost of the truck. I couldn't resist the Maduce in the back, it will be a prop for the next 3-gun match. |
tried it at alpine. it works pretty well. i like.
