I see that Tom DeLay is facing some competition in the Repub. primary this year. Does the new guy have any chance of winning, and if so, would he be any good? Just looking for some local perspective.

Delay still has very good support in this area and despite a slight drop in popularity he still has numbers good enough to win the election.

I'll say one thing abut him - he gets the job done in DC. They don't call him "The Texas Hammer" for nothing.

Tom Delay:
-Provided most comprehensive answers.
-Strong supporter of Texas Republican Party Platform.
-Long history of dedicated party service.
-Highly effective in passing conservative legislation.

Pat Baig:
-Does not consistently support Texas Republican Party Platform.
-Has not voted in any Republican Primaries in well over a decade.
-Does not support the Traditional Marriage Amendment.
-Does not oppose same-sex benefits.

Mike Fjetland:
-If defeated, will not commit to support Republican Nominee.
-Has run for this same office as an Independent Candidate.
-Would not vote to eliminate the Internal Revenue Service.
-Has not read the Republican Party of Texas Platform.

Tom Campbell:
-Appointee of President George H.W. Bush.
-History of Longtime Republican Involvement.
-Would not join Immigration Reform Caucus if elected.
-No consistent Republican voting history.

I'm considering a vote for Campbell, vs. Delay, but I'm not totally sure at this point. I have a couple of days yet!
