| Hey guys, just thought I'd pass this on: I was working patrol this evening, when I hear a hell of a boom! My first thought is that is was an air cannon, so I went on about my regular business. 3-4 calls to 911 later, I go back to the area and start checking around. Booms were coming from an area near a large private (rich) subdivision. The last one I heard, shook me in my seat!! I stopped in the area and stood by. I was advised by my Sgt. that 911 had rec'd over 50 calls in regard to the booms. While I was waiting, I was also contacted by a DPS Sgt, who lives in the area, who advised me he knew where the subject's were are and that they had been shooting full auto weapons earlier. I assembled a crew to go down to the house and check things out....well long story short, they were only bumping and using an explosive target called Tannerite. I have never heard of this stuff, but they had actually shot home video of them shooting this stuff, and I must say....IT'S COOL AS HELL!!!! For those of you who have not seen it, it comes in a plastic bottle. He told me that you mix a small amount of black powder with it, shoot it at no less than 100 yards with a rifle and you get one hell of a boom!! In the video, he has one laid by an old stump. He shoots it, then when the dust settles, no stump! Needless to say, I will be finding some of this stuff for myself! (He said he would call next time before they shoot this stuff, cause our 911 and another agency's 911 received nearly 150 calls!!! So make sure you don't have too many people close to you!!)
