Many of you may remember a few months back, my asking for prayers for a fellow Smith County Sheriff's Deputy who went to the DPS academy, was injured, then later died. He left behind a wife and 3 kids. She is struggling to make ends meet, let alone provide Christmas for the kids. He was unable to afford the life insurance that DPS provided and since he was in the academy, they did not carry him as a commissioned officer, making him not eligable for any line of duty benefits. I have considered adding a page to my business website, with PayPal button to accept donations for his wife and kids, for the Christmas season. Probably until Dec 2 or so. Would any of you guys be willing help out? Please let me know, and I will go ahead and do so. My department is taking up a collection, but it will only go so far! B. Allison Carty's Story |
| Several of you have emailed/im'd me about cash vs presents. It doesn't matter either way! I will find out the ages and keep you guys posted! Thanks for the response! Here is a link to the site for cash donation. Thanks! B. Allison |

I tried to make a donation, but when I did, PayPal added $12.50 for shipping and handling, which seems kind of odd. I've cancelled the transaction, but I'll put it through again if you can clarify that the entire amount goes to the family, and that if I want to give $x I should really give $x - $12.50 since PayPal will add that back in... |

PayPal sent. BTW, I've donated about $1000 a year for the last 5 years to the DPS Association (ad space in the highway patrol magazine). The spiel I get everytime is that money goes the help the families of the fallen. I'll be ringing my contact up and letting him know I'm not happy that the money I've donated apparently isn't being used for it's intended purpose. |
| Not sure who sent the USPS MO, but thanks! Got it in today! Have collected $165 just from a few of you guys on here!! Our CID division has gotten $145, don't know total from Patrol yet, but these kids should have a very good Christmas! It won't bring their Daddy back, but at least they will know that people respected what he did and appreciate his sacrafice!! God Bless!! B. Allison |
