I get this call, it's from County jail, I'm about to hang up but I think it could be someone I know, well this guy askes for someone who doesnt live there, I tell him he has the wrong number. This guy askes me to call his wife at work and tell her he's been picked up fpr warrent while trying to visit his brother in jail, and his kids are down stairs and they told him to call someone to pick them up and he only has one phone call, and he tried to call his uncle but his uncle gave him the wrong number, ok..so this has already cost me 3bucks, and thinking this is a scam, I had to find out if it was, so I say sure give me her name, your name, her work number and where she works, he tells me his name is oscar Garcia, his wife Maria Garcia, he said she works at UTMB, he gives me teh number 713-740-9498, he said to get to the bottom floor I needed to press *72 first. Well that forwards my number to the phone I call, it allows him to call collect on my phone, be forwarded to her house and she accepts and I get a huge bill, it's a scam. This is really who lives there M Gomez - (713) 740-9498 - 3318 Kathryn Cir, Pasadena, TX 77503 also UTMB is a 409 area code, not 713 |
We use to get those calls in Travis co. But the convict could listen to the person on the other end and could ask them to accept the call. This idoit called our house 3 times one night(obvious wrong number) and was told he had the wrong number. Fourth time he calls computer says will you accept a call from , he says "accept it b!@#$ch", I say(he can here me right now)" Rot in jail you a@@@hole." No telling who I got him mad at.

| Any call from a FL Correctional Facility is prefaced by a message from the facility stating "This is a collect call from JOE SMITH at XYZ Correctional Facility. The rate is $$$ per minute should you accept the call. Do not under any circumstance dial *72, *67... as this will allow for future calls to be forwarded through your number and billed to your account." |
this should be standard on all messages from jails |
+1 A guy at work told me that the inmates would dial random numbers trying to get a woman to answer. He said they were looking for pen pals. I bet they were looking for more than that. |
